Amber alert? (RE: Galnet)

How do you foreigners dare to imply there are other countries than America?! If something is a Thing in America, it must be a Thing everywhere.

edit: oh, and I'm not from the US or UK. There is more variety to the world than your cultures, and we can't appease every single culture and language. And shouldn't.

...and in the UK it's not. We have amber warnings/alerts for things here.

It's impossible not to be rude/offensive in other languages/cultures. There are just too many of them. There is nothing poor taste here.

Also, damnit, I was there yesterday for the first time in over a month.

I agree with CaptSodom. We need to insult all nationalities equally not just the americans. Them Canadians huh?

If only the American tourists Ihad the displeasure on runninng into yesterday shared the "lets not do anything that might offend cultures" attitude displayed by the Forum posters here.

But I think that this does raise a good point.
How many different Factions are there in Elite? They all wont use the same Alert Prowords, just as we all dont, so there would be nothing wrong with the article explaining what an Amber Alert was to clarify it for readers in other Jurisdictions

Some of my countrymen making a bad name for us huh? The dirtbags.

On that note as i mentioned earlier about being offended over everything, I have enough stress in everyday life that I don't need to compound on top of it with all the offenses of random things that are uttered by those around me.

Perhaps I shouldn't have included the winking smiley?

And it is apparent that the UK gives no cares about anything but pints and the queen. Nice. I love how the US has to edit itself for the world but the world doesn't care and would rather just hate on the US.

Post edit:

Done with this thread. Whatever dudes. Asking for a simple word change shouldn't have turned into a "eh the USA isn't the center of the universe" crap. It's more and more obvious that the UK thinks it's the center of the universe to me especially considering that's what time is based off of. >_>

Great... now we need a Alert...

The day a Galnet story with an amber alert makes my local news and causes confusion , then I will admit there is a problem .

<- Awaits the "Fox News" report (which is kind of a contradiction in terms) of an "Amber Alert" broadcast in Ngaliba.

And for them to parade some so called "expert" who claims to have been in Ngaliba.

:D

however, if its a LOCAL station, its called Code:Adam... not really sure why to be honest...

For the same reason 'Amber Alert' is used. Both were named after children who were abducted and later killed. In the case of 'Code Adam', it was Adam Walsh, son of John Walsh, the host of several crime shows on TV, such as America's Most Wanted, etc...

Code Adam is also used at several bricks and mortar retailers in the US to signify a missing child in the store, at which point everyone drops what they're doing and starts looking for the child.

Amber Alerts were named for Amber Hagerman, and serve a similar purpose.

And as a reminder for everyone who seems to be more interested in bashing people for living in a different country, rather than staying on topic...
