As a 290X CFX user (and CFX actually works well in Elite), it's going to be between the high-end Vega part and the GTX 1080 Ti if I want a credible single GPU upgrade, which I do.

I also have an academic interest in Zen, and will probably build one as the architecture and stock clocks seem promising, but it's less a pressing issue as I have several Intel hex core systems at this point.
