And ..... God im fickle!
I've bought a rtx 5080.
I like the 9070xt but... too much fiddling required to get it where l want it in VR and frankly it's just not there!
So l surrendered...now this 5080 MUST tick the boxes.
I'll keep you all posted.

Kk as a contrast. 4k optimised superposition bench no alterations just select 4k optimised and run.

9070xt 178fps. 20800 score

5080 275fps. 29450 score

I left the ingame settings + steamVR resolution exactly the same.

9070xt I was getting 45fps

5080 I'm getting 72fps

And yes I'm set at 72hz atm as it runs in a ridiculously high res each lense and it looks gorgeous.
The pimax CL makes huge demands. Both gpus did the job. But unsurprisingly the 5080 wins hands down.

Note : yes both gpus are overclocked.

Well... i paid 660 quid inc postage for the 9070xt.
And a grand for the 5080.
So yeah 40% more is about bang on.
But I'll sell the 9070xt and in my stupid head I'll be up 500+ quid and only have paid 500 for the 5080. Yeah l know that's not good math but it makes me feel better

Hope you don't have driver issues with it. Nvidia is currently having major driver issues. I was always a Nvidia fan, but they have turned their backs to gamers and gave us the finger. Thus the reason I went with AMD this time

I did read about this so I conducted a test. I benched with 4k optimised superposition as always.

Both driver releases produced similar results. 12mths release date apart from each other.
I concluded there was no noticeable difference.
But that's just my rig and doesn't take into account things like intel cpus or other hardware configurations different to mine.

64 gig ddr5
