An idea and possible solution for allowing 3 axis on grid based objects.

i think the best bet is to just have pieces that are grid based be selectably so, so a grid based piece by default of coarse has the grid selection on by default, but you can un-tick that check box to force it to have non grid like functionality like the scenery, allowing it to have 3 axis rotation, but not be locked into a grid. this would allow 3 axis rotation on building objects, but also wouldnt create complications with the grid system or blueprints.

tell me what you think of this idea everyone! lets get 3 axis on building pieces!

I would really like this actually - I can see where it probably wouldn't work with the toilets/shops but I think we should be given freedom like this with all the other building parts. We don't know how the blueprints are going to work yet but hopefully it would be able to work with that and let us group things together even if they are rotated off-axis.

i dont see how it couldnt work, just as long as the parts are not grid enabled, i mean the wall attachments have 3 axis and obviously they are going to save with the blueprints, so if the grid is not enabled on the other parts, i dont see how this would be different, by adding a "more" feature for grid parts that allow you to turn off the grid for that particular part.

So basically an advanced toggle option called "Lock to grid"... right? That way you can get the three axis rotation if you want to build something a bit more free-form without having to build multiple buildings to build the more complex shaped structures...

exactly, the simplest way to fix a complicated issue.

This makes insanely good sense.

Frontier, please give us pack advanced rotation of building pieces! Just exclude the actual shops, and it will be fine :)
