Though the article has inspired me, The Pie Bandit, Overlord of Pie to begin my own reign of terror... Not that any players ever come to my system...
There should be a CG to supply your system with fruit, animal meat and grain. Once completed, a pie-shaped space station will be built, which will serve as your lair.

Also, I should start manipulating the BGS and have the criminal faction become the controlling faction of the glorious system of Pie.
You'll need a player group to pull all this off. I suggest the name The Life Of Pie. A fearsome band of Pierates.

But getting serious for a second: are you really seriously pointing a finger at the community after glamorizing a serial clubber of seals who even you recognize as a clogger to boot? That's a real joke my friend. Griefing & ganking are literally the most toxic subjects possible in the ED universe, and all you did was write a puff piece about a guy who literally makes his ED career killing players who have played the game for a time measured in minutes, the most inexperienced, vulnerable players in the entire game. You literally could not pick a worse player to glamorize. His actions and those of people of a like mind are the most damaging playstyle possible to the overall health of the game. Quit pointing the finger at the community and take some responsibility. Perhaps do a bit more research in the future. And for god's sake pick a higher caliber of bad guy.

FWIW I see very little actual hate in this thread, but I do see a whole lot of satire and mockery. I think part of the problem is that the subject of your piece is trying to treat this little slice of the ED metaverse as if it was a Peter F. Hamilton creation, when in reality it's closer to Douglas Adams.

I've had a few other the years since release, mostly due to UA bombing or BGS manipulation of player factions turf. That said, the worst ones I've had were for arguing against what I perceive as the preferential treatment Frontier apply to groups (see for example: A thread I started at the time of the Fuel Rats Decal award).
As to my 'wipe'. It happened just after I'd 'leaked' (in other words, posted the email that every other group leader got) regarding how Frontier were carving Colonia up among the chosen rather than those who'd helped start it. I'm not going into too much detail though as the moment I do, someone will be in here waving the ban hammer.
There's a bit of a Chinese whispers going on with that story. If I recall, there was a Russian group who'd IP traced a leader of an Eve faction, and they'd approached the Goons to actually cut his internet connection at a time when they were hitting one of that corps prize assets. The Goons brought it to public light and didn't accept the invitation.

Firstly, thanks for the reply and coming on here to discuss this.
Secondly, I don't see much of the 'hate' you're alluding too. What I am seeing is one player acting like they're the toughest most feared kid on the block, and getting appropriately ridiculed for it because, to be frank, they're not.
Thirdly, if you were "fine with receiving comments from people who disagree with an article" you'd written, you'd have stood by your guns. To have wavered under such a minuscule amount of criticism implies to me that you are in fact, not open to it.
In closing, I also suggest you choose your subject matter more carefully in the future before trying to promote the idea of them having a 'Mittani-lite' persona.

Sorry John, but the article was a swing and a miss. You gave a platform to one of the worst specimens of the community, not the best. Zarek Null isn’t even a “good” villain like Rinzler or GluttonyFang. He’s an obnoxious, petulant child of a gamer who preys on brand new players. He combat logs. He drives people away from open or even the game itself. He adds nothing of value to the community or the game.
And no, he doesn’t even roleplay a great character.
His “character”- and for Zarek’s sake I do hope that it’s only a character- takes the cartoon villain template and applies a rather tortured layer of delusional self-aggrandizement and buffoonery to an already thin surface. It’s not a good character. It’s cringy, it’s embarrassing, and it’s a reflection on yourself as a journalist for failing to see what is obvious to the rest of the community.

I dont think there was really anything wrong with the original article. Except for the hilariously obscure and rather pathetic non-entity you chose as the big "bad guy". Next time choose a real villain who's actually recognized by ....... well ........ anybody and you might actually have something resembling a story.

I Can't speak about the good old Khan, But i think he have a lot of descendant who can. but Napoleon checks out well? Except to do something worthwhile. Alexander? Again, do something worthwhile! But also, i think. (think? i know!) He turns over his grave! With a pretty high RPM. Rpm? RPpS! (pS as picosecundum) Somehow like a more serous pulsar.
Getting back To Genghis? I think he too turns over his grave! What he did is ruthless and bloody, but served his people, and it was an act of war, and not seal clubbing because he was bored.
