Wonderful decision on the journalist part, it's rare to see such integrity in journalism these days. Zarek Null is without a doubt a combat longer, therefore a cheater and as such no promotion of this individual should be done and be acceptable to promote this game. I could care less if he shoots defenseless sidewinders in Eravate.
I menu logged (a Frontier-allowed action) a handful of times *6 months ago*. I've not done it since, except once when Potter was using an exploit to gank me inside a coriolis space station, which is an exceptional case (though again, by game rules, we're allowed to menu log *any time*). Yet at least weekly, I receive accusations from strangers that I'm a habitual combat logger. I've even received personal threats against me. I was investigated for combat logging twice by Frontier and found not guilty both times. This is what my "combat logs" look like on my end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHB_aFd0nI8 -- the game errors out when I'm in combat. It happens frequently. It's annoying. But I am not a cheater. I was never a cheater. Logging out from the game is not cheating, it's just using the game UI in a manner designed by the developers. A game that considered the act of ending your play session to be cheating would be ridiculous. Only task-kill combat logging is cheating as it's an exploit, and that is not something I've done. And as a favor to the community I've not menu logged either, even though its not technically cheating.
I have 3.5 billion credits. I can lose many many ships and still be fine. I have no motiviation to "combat log".
I'm not a cheater, but you may be guilty of defamation. You post negative accussations on a public forum about someone you don't even know, and for which you don't know the facts (and your facts are wrong). You are perpetuating a sentiment that has lead to people raising personal threats against me. Why do you do this? Do you want to see me get swatted or doxed or killed in real life? Are you that committed to your malicious lie that you want to see me physically harmed?
The problem is not that I combat log (I don't). The problem is that dozens of people *lie* constantly, writing on the internet that I am a relentless combat logger. They use bad inference: I saw two 6-month old combat logging videos, therefore it follows that Zarek Null *constantly* combat logs, to this day. Wrong--two videos really only proves two combat logs half a year ago. Do you understand why your logic is flawed? If I saw a video of a man slipping on the ice, it would obviously be a false move of logic to then exclaim "he slips on the ice *every day*, *multiple times a day*, even months later!". People read the lies and fallacious logic, then they also start writing them elsewhere. And it basically went viral. But in reality, I don't combat log.
I've not broken any rules. But several ED communities do have rules against naming-and-shaming. And that's exactly what you're doing. So in a way, you're the "cheater" by breaking the general etiquette of the ED community. Therefore, you defintely do not deserve an interview. We don't want to glorify petty slanderers and shamers in this community.
What you should think twice about is why naming and shaming is often disallowed. There are cases of people killing themselves in real life from online humiliation. Fortunately for you all I am exceptionally thick skinned. But you have to ask yourself: is the risk of pushing someone over the edge, into death, really worth it just so you can complain about occasionally being unable to blow up imaginary spaceships?
