Anaconda Cockpit, any word from FD

While reading this thread an interesting idea popped into my head: It would be interesting to have the cockpit go from the new pristine look to worn and grubby based on how long you've owned/used the ship. This would work much like the worn paint mechanic where you would have the option to repair and/or spruce the place up whenever you were at a station or you could just let it "get the vintage look" until it resembled a frat house after a wild weekend long party. This could be a feature applied to all ships' cockpits. Just a thought.

Sounds very cool.
I'll probably be dead before FD gets around to that but I like it.

Well there's a difference between 'designed centuries ago' and 'built centuries ago'. It's an old design, but doesn't lore suggest they're still being built? I don't think there's an unending supply of old filthy Anacondas on mothballs just waiting to replace ones which have blown up, do you? ;)

And I certainly wouldn't want to purchase a newly-manufactured Anaconda which has had the used-toilet look replicated ;)

I thought that the majority of them were fresh salvage jobs. Find a swamp, scan it, dig out however many Anacondas have crashed and sunk there over the years and get them sent off to the local shipyards for refitting. They are basically the junker's ships of Elite, where each one has hundreds of years of history, even if 100 years of that history might be rusting on a beach as a hermit's hovel.

+rep for this.

It annoys me that some ships look tatty and dirty and some ships look pristine and clean. It would be great if every ship had two interior texture sets; New textures and worn/grubby textures, just like the ship exterior currently has.

There's nothing more depressing than spending money on a new ship to discover it's dirty and worn out on the inside. And someone, PLEASE clean my windows!

The console bashing in this thread is utterly rediculous as stupid.
The graphical representation on the pc isn't linked to that of the Xbox or Ps4, just look at the overall differences in screenshots.
Both versions of the game Pc and Xbox are optimised for that specific platform except the general features.
The stupid console bashing isn't necessary, I could as well say it's the Pc's own fault that the galactic map is bugged because Pc's are inconsistent and poorly build, we on Xbox don't have that problem, who's the master race now?

Sheesh, shortsighted stuck up bragging.

Hmmm. Well in most games the graphics improve with time not get intentionally worse but maybe I am old school here.

Beige planets with less terrain variety would love to have a word with you…

The Anaconda bridge changes aren’t a bug, a QA dev confirmed it was intentional during beta. The changes were made for multicrew. Ed Lewis said he’d look into it but has yet to give a reply back.

Does it look worse? Yeah, much worse IMHO. Will Frontier improve it later on and bring it back to it’s former glory? Probably not, maybe a little bit someday, but they did it on purpose and it doesn’t seem like they are too concerned with “fixing” it. It’s a shame that one of the most popular and most used ships in the game was downgraded like this, I really don’t know how they thought it was a good idea in the first place.

Going from the Cutter to the Conda honestly is like going from 2017 to 2001.

I really enjoyed my two Conda's. Spent so much time fully engineering them I think it's best to just take a long break until the dust settles.

The in-game description says...

The Anaconda is the pride of Faulcon deLacy's ship yards. The design was first manufactured in 2856 by RimLiner Galactic. After numerous mergers the template was eventually owned by Faulcon deLacy, who have made only minor changes to the classic design. The Anaconda is a versatile craft that can transport large cargos as well as pack a decent punch. Some smaller navies use the Anaconda in the light cruiser and frigate roles. The Anaconda can also be upgraded with a docking bay allowing small fighters up to Sidewinder size to be carried and launched.

So they very much still get manufactured (as far as the game is concerned), otherwise like I said if they were all used we'd have run out of them due to having to replace one blown up Anaconda with one which if you were correct would have been 'dug up from some swamp a while back' :)

And I for one like to have a bridge which doesn't look and smell like an old used toilet, especially if I'm buying one new ;)

If your bridge is smelling like an old toilet, you might want to put the game own for a while and clean up :p

the old cockpit is now for sale in the Frontier store!!!! only 12 $
Anaconda reaver cockpit kit

Judging by the microtransactions now, I would not doubt it.

But FD we want the Anaconda´s cockpit exactly as it was before. Capiche.

There isn't anything missing. They seem to have changed the models, I don't think its a bug.

lol
i have been on a conda in multicrew, looked around and noticed what is missing.
shadows.

its as simple as that - even on highest detail and with ambient occlusion turned on, there was not a single shadow beeing casted. probably the texture for glossiness or self illumination is bugged

Yeah, that's possible I guess.
From the screen shots I've seen and the very brief time I got connected to an MC Anaconda it just seemed like they had replaced the old bridge with a new low-poly version.

I did like the black table. This is how it looks when not too much light gets inside. Some Docks with the multi-panelled lighting directly above totally wash out these textures...

If you're feeling nostalgic, the signature exposed electric cabling is still hanging in there above the top frame of the cockpit window..so not all is lost! :)

Even in the Oculus the cockpit now looks "flat," totally 2-D. I'm sure it's some kind of rendering bug they will fix eventually.

Okay, I'd been kinda ignoring the 'Conda cockpit threads, since I don't own one and you all seemed to be complaining a lot about cosmetic stuff.
But having seen these screenshots I'm now fully behind you guys. That bridge is FUGLY!
