Anaconda - order of upgrades?

Hi Folks,

Overtime I'm looking to upgrade my Anaconda to an all A rated with Military Armour type multipurpose ship.

In what order do you think i should upgrade the modules or does it not really matter. Currently she is D rated with re-enforced armour set for trading.

Thanks for the advice.

Bought mine D rated and went for better jump drive to get around then power supply for my weapons and then power distributor again for my weapons as I mostly do Bounty Hunting in it. Way I saw it, if I don't have a good jump drive, I can't get to the BH CG's.

My advice;

A rate the FSD first, for more comfortable travel.
Depending on your usage (trade, combat, etc), use a 6A or 7A power plant. The 8A can be overkill.
Keep life support at D rated.
Your distributor should suit your needs, maximum for combat, or whatever gets lets you boost otherwise.
Thrusters I'd use 6A for trade, 7A for combat. (I think)

Ditch the military armour, just Engineer the lightweight hull, and rely on good shields with shield boosters instead. Stick an SCB in the military slot.
You'll get more speed, agility and jump range from it. It'll be more fun to fly overall, instead of a giant brick. :p
You should be able to survive all combat*, whether you run or fight.
And your rebuy is lower, if the worst should happen. :)

Good luck and have fun!

*Unless you flatten something when docking.
RIP to my Anaconda "Pancake" 1-3. Lol

Upgrade your powerplant sooner rather than later or you could get a nasty surprise when you deploy your weapons following your latest upgrade.

PP is always the last thing I pay much attention to, especially with regard to engineering.

No point in fitting a giant PP and then getting it G5 pimped only to find that you could have used a smaller, lower-rated or modestly engineered PP and achieved better jump-range and/or heat management.

First of all, get a 6A FSD and an A-rated powerplant for heat efficiency if you don't already have them. You won't need the power output of an 8A PP yet, so the price tag shouldn't be too bad.

After that, I'd suggest getting your shields up to scratch since your rebuy is going to be continually increasing as you refit with more expensive modules. Then get thrusters (seriously, don't scrimp on thrusters unless you're building an exploration ship). You'll want a full size power distributor before using it for combat. D-rated life support and sensors are perfectly fine, although I personally prefer A-rated sensors on combat ships.

Grab an MRP or two as well. Even when you're planning to fully shield tank, MRPs are your ticket to being able to successfully wake out if you loose your shields.

I always go max FSD and thrusters, then shield/fuel scoop, D rate the life support and sensors, add as many shield boosters as I like the look of, and then set about overcharging the smallest possible A rated PP to cover it, you can save a lot of money by downclassing + engineering stuff, I imagine with DDT some D rated thrusters wouldn't suck too bad for example. Anyway, this conda ran me 378mil, and I got some pretty lucky rolls on the FSD and PP mods, each were single rolls.

I didn't realise he was talking about engineers, I thought he was starting with a base ship.

1. A rated Power Plant. the modded Annie runs hot so keep this in mind.

2. Dirty drive thrusters. A rated. Amazing yet Still lacking on high G surfaces.

3. FSD

4. resistant shield boosters. Good for resisting everything, even if your ai does the lawn dart maneuver. :p

Good luck with RNG.

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice.

I hadnt thought much about engineering modules like the pp but i think it sounds like a good idea.

Once again, thank you for the input it has given me some things to play with.

Cmdr Colt.

I suggest you keep it D rated, except for the FSD, and make it a passenger and exploration ship. You will make great gobs of money and be able to use it for a second battle anaconda and A rate the second one the day you buy it. Too many modules to swap separately (I used to do it) and I love both ships. My massive laser PVE DPS ship is the AVALANCHE, and my exploration ship is the EXPEDITION - overall probably my two favorite ships!

Edit. Also A rated power plant. But make it a small one.

The distributor is the most important aspect to A-rate first in any ship. Fortunately, it's also one of the cheaper components.

Distributor > Engines > Power plant > Shield and boosters > Weapons.
