I've been exploring and find the new analysis mode great. I have no problem pushing a button to switch between both modes.
As a rule, I prefer to know the reasons WHY a thing might be necessary, and question the necessity of a thing, rather than just mindlessly accepting a thing regardless of how easy it is.
I'd like to believe that the "mode" button
is there to facilitate a bunch of different things that might be added at a later date.
If it
is, though, it already needs revising so that only the functions associated with each mode are available IN that mode.
It might be too much to ask that we get fire-groups unique to each mode but it should be fairly simple for the "select previous/next fire-group" buttons to simply skip past every FG that doesn't contain a function accessible in a given mode.
In a nutshell, if I have 4 FGs containing weapons and 2 containing scanners, when I'm in "Analysis mode" I should only have the choice of the 2 FGs that contain scanners.
Conversely, when I'm in "Combat mode" I should only have the choice of my 4 weapons FGs.
If this isn't the case, as it currently isn't, the mode button is entirely superfluous.
