Opened one up once, had some strange electronics, labelled "BBC Model B" plus it had a strange data recorder, best the boffins could say was that it was some ancient ships navigation system.

I had one which had some kind of label which I think read "Half-Life 3." It must have been a dangerous radiation risk, so I disposed of it quickly at the nearest Federation facility. :)

My theory is that humanity actually came from the stars, and not Earth and these artifacts are lost remnants from one of our previous homes. Tomb raiders have gone there and looted all the old stuff they could find to sell it on the open market, but the source location has been lost over the centuries.

So just a clarification, the ancient artifact can be found in a Weak Signal source or USS?

I have this mission and cannot find it, must be a bugged mission.

I found mine at a USS. Your mission is probably bugged regardless.

@Aussiedroid - deep! Nothing in the game points to anything like extraterrestrial origins (so far). We just suddenly pop up with hundreds of interstellar stations one millennium after giving birth to Kim Kardashian, and there's no logical link between the two. Well, maybe the driving need to get away from the planet that gave birth to Kim Kardashian, I can understand that.
