angery and dont understand my ship just exploded for no reason?

right so, i did some long range missions

my objectives:

to reach the center for the achievement, Xbox One, visit Sagittarius A. so i thought id accept some passenger missions to increase profit.

4, 1st class passenger missions 2 of which to the same location. i would jump from system to system only using my advance discovery scanner, as i didn't want to waste too much time.

my ship = anaconda.

progress = spent a week and a half out there literally half way home as well.

accident = i have kids and i got distracted for like 30 seconds and i was between 2 large stars (both yellow/orange) and i over heated to about %160.

my reaction = !!! i used heat sink straight away cooled off then moved out of danger and then FSDed to the next system, there i moved away from the star and lowered speed and stoped complete.

Ship's hull after this = %77 (power plant = %88) cargo hatch and sensors took most damage lol
then i started my repairs it was at that point my ship just exploded with no warning.

this really me off i lost 120M in missions and a 20M bonus, all exploration data (no too much as only scanned stars and Adv' discovery scanner), 8M for my ship to buy again and 10 days of game play. im not a noob ive done this before but i have not got a single clue as to why
my ship destroyed itself.

i wanted to put it here to get some insight as im planning on complaining if that's even possible. if i messed up id get it that's the game but ships don't just explode with %23 damage. i worried about flying out now that i only have 13M left over if it happens 2 more times on short missions ill lose my ship!

Well, here's a link to Frontier Support. You can file a ticket and they can help you figure out what happened. If there was a bug, or maybe if you are polite, they can reset your account. You may not get those missions back, but they can reverse the rebuy and return lost exploration data.

As to what happened, did you try to reboot/repair? Or use an AFMU? Cause there's a very scary button right next to reboot/repair...

Sorry to hear this -- it sounds awful.

Finding out what actually happened seems to be a logical first step. It would be nice if the game made it less of a mystery to players, but hopefully Frontier Support can help.

Good luck!

You pushed self destruct. There's a short cooldown which, I believe, is easy to miss as it is displayed over the menu option instead of somewhere obvious. File a ticket, that option is in an extremely stupid location imo.

Frontier really needs to relocate the repair function away from the self destruct option. It's ridiculous that they are literally right next to each other in the list.

I'm not going to say that you 100% elected to self-destruct; but it's a good bet this is the cause.

You'll inflict a great deal of damage on your ship if you try to repair the FSD while in SC

This will not cause an explosion; accidentally committing suicide by selecting the very next option to 'reboot & repair', will, though. ;)

What repairs did you start - and how exactly?

There are several repair mechanisms:
reboot/repair: pretty much useless in your case, as that will only bring up completely wrecked subsystems (0%) back up, at the cost of cannibalizing some of the more healthy subsystems
AFMU: shouldn't blow up your ship, no matter what you do, but will rather forcefully drop you from supercruise if you foolishly attempt to repair the thrusters (we've all been there )
Repair Limpets: haven't used them myself yet (my ships are usually too small to carry them in addition to everything else), but AFAIK those are for hull and canopy repairs

Neither of these has the capability of exploding your ship, especially not if you're still at 77% hull and 88% power plant (that's practically healthy). So, which repair mechanism did you trigger, and what happened exactly? Did you get a countdown?

If you're on XBox, accessing the journal might be a bit more difficult than on PC, I imagine.

The problem, as others have mentioned, is that "Reboot/Repair" is directly above "Self Destruct", and depending on your controls layout (XBox? Pad? Stick click to select and confirm?) it is well possible that you slipped off from a useless (in your case) to a deadly option.

If you repaired your life support, you probably ran out of O2. Modules being repaired go offline, but do not come back online when finished. You need to manually activate them again.

But the life support warning would have been on, with some pretty obvious signs.

Other than that, and self destruct, I can't really think of anything else.

I'm willing to believe the game bugged out and blew his ship up. I had my ship suddenly have all its modules start deteriorating like I had Thargoid tech on board once... in a ship with no cargo space, and had been out in the black for weeks and so was no where near Thargoids (I haven't even messed with them or their tech yet at all). Suspecting it was a bug, I dropped to the main menu to reset, and that stopped it. The only sign of the incident in the journal was an AFMU repair I made after I started back up and the repair bill when I finally docked in the Lagoon Nebula.

You didn't do the repair IN supercruise did You? You were in normal space? Rebooting your power plant and frameshift whilst using it is a bad idea.

It'll be interesting to know how the OP does his repairs.

Did he/she try to repair many modules at once or one at a time. I always do the latter, that way I know that each module is repaired AND switched back on.

The Life Support module is the only module that I don't touch unless it's absolutely vital.

There's a good possibility that this could have been repaired but not switched back on.....however as others have pointed out it could just be a bug. Hope that the OP is on PC then they can share their journal log with us.

Allo

First of all Thank you all for your replies i really appricate it.

XBOX one, is my console.

i want to start with the self destruct option.

i repair with the modules Tab to the right, i used the AFMUs i have 2.
i repaired the first AFMU first and then the second.
after that i start from the top 1 by 1. im very careful

im not an expert but im no noob lol

also i wasn't in super cruise, i slowed down to slowest then jumped down to the lowest form of speed (FSD = fast, supercuirse = middle. lowest = donno tbh lol thrusters? i was in that the lowest)

also the life support i hadn't gotten to yet i think i just finished repairing the AFMUs and start the first at top from there maybe 1 or 2 down from there.

still really confused but ive asked for support hopefully thatll help

Ok, that's weird.

Only thing I can still think of, besides a bug, would be if, by powering up the AFMUs, you unknowingly switched off the life support (power priority). Those AFMUs draw a lot of power. Although that would have given you the oxygen countdown and, towards the end, some really strange noises from your breathing.

Anacondas used to be renowned for exploding for no reason, was primarily linked to a bug with the landing gear. Thing is every now and again reports still come in about the ship exploding for no reason, the ship has always been plagued by this issue, in 3 years I've never seen it happen personally.

Google 'Elite dangerous exploding anaconda bug' You'll see reports and videos on this forum and the other elite sites. This one only occurred a few days ago - https://steamcommunity.com/app/359320/discussions/0/3377008022034854932/
