In the zoo in which I used to work, many habitats which had many animals, there used to be a family tree sign which told the guests which animals are pairs, and which animals is whose offspring. It also used to tell some distinguishing marks of each animal.
We used to update the animal after births/deaths/transfers to other zoos.
This used to allow guets to get to know the animals on a more personal level and educate the mabout familial connections in the animal kingdom.
