ANNNNNNND Odyssey everybody

Just to clarify my point, for someone who's already a player of Elite Dangerous, I do recommend giving it a try to see if they're curious, rather than letting someone else's subjective experience technically misinform them (no intention to misinform insinuated by that). However, for a brand new player, I would agree that waiting till it's optimized is the better choice unless they're of the more 'adventurous' spirit.
Nicely balanced! (y)

Which should be doable with amd fsr being enabled on XB and PS4 - which means they need to optimize the low setting to actually behave as low - then with FSR they can render at 720p / 30fps and upscale it to 1080p
If I'm not mistaken, at least FDev only have to target one set of specs for each console to get it running as it should, so there's that?

Well in that case, you were just confirming the point I was trying to make: Everyone's subjective opinion on what constitutes acceptable performance is going to be different, and so the only way they can decide for themselves is to see objective measures of performance.
I can mostly agree with that but the caveat is still that one's own objective performance is not yet indicative of another's which is why my position is to advocate less on objective stats and more on encouraging those to see for themselves. Obviously, a pot luck approach to whether a game is going to work or not for any particular person is not tenable as a long term strategy for growth or stability, and I'm not suggesting it is at all either, rather it's to mitigate and give FDev a more fair shot during this reboot/repair phase we all find ourselves in. Odyssey, when running decently (eventually), is a very worthy upgrade IMO and is the base upon which all the ship interiors etc.. that everyone wants can be built. It's what we all want, right?

BTW; Not had a chance to load up Odyssey since I posted, will try tonight.

Mr. Rat Catcher, you bravely try and instill some semblance of balance into these threads, but I'm not sure its really worth it. Ms. Taylor Swift had it right with that catchy song about shaking.
