Another carrier traffic jam outside Rackham's Peak, HD 105341

How about just not going to Rackham? You can also go to 3500ly and enjoy the view...

It is a trap and a salt mine. I am sure at least 15 CMDRs are smiling reading this post....

Well.... Yes

But good luck with that! You know the saying.. Some just want to see the world burn.

If you manage to convince one of two.. Two others will take the place to 'reserve the slot'. People are selfish beings.

None are xbox players and it looks like one fleet carrier has been sitting in that system for almost a year lol

If they back out to the previous system, the ones that don't make way get to beat them out. If someone does not make way, then no one gets in or out. It is an interesting psychological conundrum.View attachment 325773

This picture physically hurts. Used to get this on my commute home with 2x junctions about 100m apart and people wanting to turn across the traffic. Just far enough that a newbie wouldn't realise they were the cause of the unmoving traffic they couldn't get through.

This traffic situation shows a lack of awareness. There are a few places along the routes I drive that are problems for drivers wanting to turn right across the flow of traffic. And their lack of progress causes a build-up of traffic behind them. If able and safe to do so, the best option is to slow down approaching the junction to give them a chance to cross the road and ease the flow of traffic. Common sense really.

I know. I don't even try to go there, just find it amusing that fdev didn't create any solutions for situations like this. :)

Why should they, players want player driven content, this is player driven content, a traffic jam, players need to solve it. Even if FDEV did...what? Manually moved carriers out of the system 15 other would just move into the system in their place and that would be that, FDEV would be fiddling with the game every week or so, it's the emergent content that players desire so much, well apparently not so much when it inconveniences them.

From what I see, 1/3 of the carriers that are in that system are from the same fleet. That would have to be penalized. I would agree with a time limit, or a fee for maintaining a carrier in certain conflictive areas, or another solution, if the carrier is in one of those conflictive zones, after a reasonable time, jump only to the closest free system,

By the way - I got a great response from fdev support, which I'll paste below. There's some old information out there that says you're only refunded the purchase cost of the carrier and not the installed modules. I just sent an email saying "hey, I'm cool with the decommissioning fee etc. but I'm going to lose a ton on these modules I can't uninstall first, anything I can do?" but fortunately it was a misconception. Bottom line I guess - don't haul a carrier down a one-way road if there's traffic about! I ignorantly assumed that as there was free space going in, I'd be able to get out a few days later. Oh well, live & learn.

Here's the response I got, in case it helps anyone else:

Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm sorry to say that this is pretty much par for the course at Rackham's : (

It's been an issue since just about day one.

Some people like to make a post to our subreddit or forums asking if anyone ready to move out of HD 105341 might be willing to accommodate, and coordinate with them, but aside from that it's unfortunately just a case of trying your luck as frequently as possible and hoping for the best.

If you do decide that decommissioning is your best option (which is pretty extreme, tbh!) then you should actually get the value of your installed services back as part of the refund. It's certainly designed to work that way, and if you were to find that this hadn't happened the we'd be more than happy to help with that once the issue is verified.

Kind regards,
Luna

It's always a good idea to have a designated expendable ship on your Carrier for self-destructing in. Doesn't have to be useless for any other purpose, but it should be entirely unengineered (and with no special modules purchased with mats, or PowerPlay modules from a Power you're no longer pledged to), and therefore entirely replaceable with credits alone.

I've used mine a couple of times, for returning quickly to the Bubble from deep space.

If the carrier has outfitting you can store all modules & they will be replaced by default ones even if the carrier has no outfitting stock. That ship can then be used to self destruct & take the freewinder option. Another hull can then be bought & the stored modules refitted. Costs credits but retains any engineering.

I am trying to get my FC out of HIP 58832. If someone will move out of HD 105341 that will free up a spot.

And what's the name of this fleet? People must know their heroes. At least for contact them to get free path from Peak.

As I can see, the're 2 decomissioned carriers in HIP 58832. I don't sure, but do they keep space in limit?

I've messaged many of the owners of the FCs in HD 105341. Hopefully they will back out and make way for those of us that want to get out of HIP 58832. I sent the message in English and Spanish since many of the CMDRs appear to be from Spanish speaking countries.
