You don't even really need to do that.. I just did a couple of level 4 upgrades for some of my ships and then that ranked me up to level 5. I think I've only given her 100k of exploration data in total.
Im never a fan of "good bye posts"......but this one was respectful and insightful. I understand the frustration, I think we all do...hopefully it will get sorted out OP and you can make your return

I just didn't want to waste any more materials on level 4, I'll head to the NGC 7822, scan/collect materials & get my fleet on lvl-5
Seems to me that if you want the best stuff, then you're gonna have to earn it.
Kinda like saving for your big ship and CG's where you have to make numerous runs to get up the rankings.
You just have to look at it in the same way.

There ARE other ways to acquire things. Piracy. Scavenging. Missions.
First rule of success. If what you're doing isn't working. Do something else.
Trading is safe, slow and easy. The game is dangerous......you don't need to be hercule poirot.....

Don't go stay! i didn't know until i watched an Obsidian ants vid that you can pay for things with exploration data at some engineers even when there asking for other stuff. im sure theres a way. allso enjoy it as a game too. hope to see you back in in the black.
