News Another sneak peek at Horizons progress (SRV driving)

I can imagine Davids reaction to his sneak peek in the forums is.....

Looking very good indeed, looks like another whole game to me. Rock hermit here I come. ;)

You guys...I'm hyper ventilating from excitement...this kind of hype is dangerous to your health!!!!

When is December...when is beta...OMGEEE

Oh ! David ! After the mini video of the planet and the livestream, the mini video on the SRV and soon the livestream on this subject. Thanks Mr. Braben ! Great end of the year 2015 !

It does look quite fun, and this is one "way to play" with these because of how gravity will change on each planet. How cool is that!!

Thank you Mr Braben!

It looks awesome.

Just a question for Mr Braben or a dev, will it be possible for SVRs to make tracks (maybe semi permanent) on the ground later on? It would look cool.

Still seeing dust billowing as if there is a thick atmosphere. It was in the trailer as well but I assumed it was just cinematics. Is this an airless world? If so wouldn't realism look better? Airless parabolic dust looked cool in the Apollo videos and we will get billowing clouds in any case when atmospheric worlds are ready.
Anyway thanks for the share and peek the whole Horizons thing looks amazing.

Whilst this all looks fab, and I can quite get behind the number of people shouting 'SQUEEE' and whatnot, there is one question that hasn't been answered. Does the SRV have an MP3 player?

I want to race other SRV's to Metallica, banging my head and luscious wavy 80s locks to full-on migraine status dammit!

I'll consider this beta until implemented.

with my user name I had to rep ya! Although I have no wavy locks anymore! ;)

Remember dust drops very slowly on a low gravity world, -(smaller than our moon)...

A rocky world somewhere between the size of Mars and Earth (that this clip was taken from) would have a gravity of maybe 50% of Earth (given Mars' 38%). Compare how long the dust lingers in the video with the videos of the Apollo buggy, where it disappears very quickly in just 17% gravity.

Still, it's a WIP, so hopefully it's something they'll sort out before it's released. :)

(Having said that, I think the Andromeda Galaxy is still at 90 degrees to its proper orientation...)
