Another yaw rant

My mum says ignore what anyone says before the word 'but'.

Threads don't cost anything. You don't have to reply. The OP didn't over state their case and has already said they will try again with an open mind. There really isn't any need to pick a fight here.

Then you should be stumbling into som very confusing discussions i take it?

In any case, I wasnt picking a fight and im glad to hear the OP is still giving ED a shot, but I have a thing for when people start talking about the money they lost.
Youve lost nothing and havent been tricked in any way if the product is working as intended, even if that is not how YOU expected it to work.
Its not difficult to get a pretty accurate view of how ED beta plays through the forums and Youtube.
And if your sensitive about losing said money on a prepaid game, then it should be in your interest to look these things up.

That said, I hope OP finds some joy in ED still and at least waits until we get full content before deciding and possibly deal with the flightmodel as is after a while.

I have to admit that I was really disappointed with the yaw being nerfed last year as well. However, it wasn't an arbitrary decision. After playing it and getting used to the flight model, I found pitch & roll is a lot more fun and helps to eliminate certain unwanted behaviors.

The alternative is, well, you can look to the "other" space sim's such as Evochron Mercenary if you want to see a big jousting turret fest - which is what FD wanted to completely avoid.

Pitch/Roll vs Pitch/Yaw

Plus, since Pitch/Yaw is used for virtually every single space sim - ED wouldn't stand out as much as they have if they didn't take the flight model as seriously as they did.

I thought pitch&roll was a popular choice, but I couldn't guess that it was forced by design.

Sorry for this rant, I think I made up my own idea about this game and I was wrong. I'm an SC backer, and SC is the game that appeals me most, but I didn't want to be another "SC rox / ED sux" guy, I wanted to give ED a try and I thought it would "fill the gap" for deep space exploration. I just learned the hard way that the game with the steepest learning curve (for a pitch&yaw adept) is the one I planned on investing the less time on. ED's development is more advanced than SC's and I thought it would help me wait. I was just being impatient. Maybe I should have waited for No Man's Sky for "easy" exploration :)

I know that pitch&yaw has a "noob" reputation, but I think it's just a matter of personal preference and I like it when games allow as much customization as possible.

Anyway, reading your answers showed me that ED has a great community, that makes me want to give it another chance :)

(I hope that I made myself clear, English is not my primary language)

Honestly once it clicks you'll love it. I do. Elite just isn't a game you can pick up in an afternoon, you need to put the fight hours in.

It's like the first slogan created by Fernando Pessoa for Coca-Cola:"First you think it’s strange, then it sinks in"

You won't regret it :)
It's special and it's unique.
Many of us have been waiting a really long time for this game...look at Geraldine' motto- "Keeping The Faith For Elite IV Since 1997".

Well spoken. Welcome to Elite. A whole lot of us are dual backers here.

You should edit your 1st post btw, so you don't get so many dismayed and frustrated responses.
