Anti griefing suggestion

The way to fix it is to make the AI Police 'cheat' in the same way AI Pirate NPCs can spawn in places they logically shouldn't be, and in some cannot get to in the first place.

Have the cops spawn close and instantly once Pirates destroy a 'clean' ship and make sure they come armed ready for bear. I have seen NPC Adders with Plasma Guns, so the Cops should get the best gear, perhaps some of the removed 'overpowered' weapons that were in the game?

Make the 'Pariah' status for killing a clean ship and make it stick for 24 / 48 hours. Pariah means 'shoot on sight' in any civilized area. Allow Pariah's to dock at Pirate stations - those with the Skull Holograms, but you can't pay off bounties / fines etc. there.

Pirates can still Pirate using the 'warning shot drop cargo' / limpet method, but people just killing for the sake of it will have to take the consequences.

I do hope that this kind of idea is implemented, if people want to play as sociopaths, then at least give them a set of consequences, which is more than a quick dock and pay a fine. while personally I think people who play to just kill as just a game spoiler wont stay around long as the game continues to develop but as new players, join there will always be some. So consequences should be high.

This isn't griefing. Its only griefing if its repeated again and again. Its anti-social yes but not any kind of exploit. Run or fight.

Tell me how that strategy works for you next time your slowly coming through a docking port and someone decides to pop you just because its a fun part of the game for them?

I have no problem with people playing how they want and killing just for grins. I am only suggesting some added grins by watching the "popper" becoming the "popee".

Just for grins of course,,,,,,,,,:D

Against

I am visiting TWO stations that register as only me in a 24h period - there are plenty of places to go where you are alone and away from griefers

No ship should be super powered

In the spoiler is the easy way to beat a griefer and it works every single time

Be better than him or her

Better armed
Better defences
Faster
More agile
Better power distribution
The best shields
Chaff dispensers
be a better flyer

Don't dock slowly you just set yourself up as a target check your scanner on approach for waiting griefers they stand out like a sore thumb, practice speed docking also helps.

If I'm interdicted my guns are deployed and I'm straight onto the offensive, if that doesn't work I run.

An in-game counter strategy is going to be a lot more effective than moaning here.

The golden rule is fit your ship to fight there's no point carrying a bit of extra cargo if its floating in the debris of your ship.

Well heck, calm down folks. After all it was just a suggestion. There is no crying going on. Maybe you missed the smiley's in my post. If you read my post's you will notice I have no problem with Cmdr's playing the murderer. What's the harm in someone getting surprised? ;)

It is yet another topic "complaining" about griefing, which was never an issue on this game, soo.... errrr... yeah... people are calm and just repeating what's been said on every other topic about griefing :)

I've wondered what would happen if it was the way around :

Remove the hollow Icons for Players and adapt more meaningful and Player-similar NPC names.
Then everyone would look the same and it would take alot of experience to discern NPCs from Players.
Interesting thought. I had not considered that.

I don't think there really is a problem beyond there being no convincing consequences for your actions. To be honest I think your idea is far too extreme, and frankly quite lazy, it doesn't solve any problems it just introduces an element of tension, like gambling. If they get the wrong one then they just die and come back in a shiny new ship and try another one, they really don't care about losing their ship. The problem is that it's too easy to get away with it without consequence because the fine/bounty system is far too simple, and easy to circumvent by paying off your bounty every time you kill someone. The solution is to expand the system and make it more complex so that there are actual consequences for your actions, in ways that have been discussed in numerous other threads (such as a criminal record/reputation).

I agree on the lack of consequence. Frankly it always struck me as ????? how you could get blasted to smithereens for loitering, but when it comes to murder, eh, pay at the next window and move on.

So until the consequences match up to the crime in a more logical manner, I will say my "suggestion" is just as logical as the current crime reporting/sanctioning system.

Lastly: added tension? Why not? I mean after all, as others are quick to point out, it is Elite: Dangerous, riiiiight? ;)
