Any Lifetimers who are successfully using the game via Steam?

I know the trick about just clicking on Odyssey in the launcher and hitting ENTER on the keyboard to get it to start downloading. I'm trying to install the game via the dowloaded launcher from Frontier store and logging in with my Frontier credentials, it seems to be slowly sync'ing.

Curious if any has gotten it installed and running via Steam managed launcher, and also what was the Products directory name its installed to. I didn't see it in my previous install attempt via Steam launcher, but Frontier direct launcher is putting it under ..\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64.

Nope, mine stops and just says Sync files

But steam also says i dont own the DLC...

yeah, Steam won't since there is no partner keys after Horizons apparently. Not worried about that. Have you looked to see if its creating a install directory for Odyssey? In your steam install directory for the game (wherever... \steamapps\common\EliteDangerous?) there should be a products directory that has all the various game verison installs.

Yep, same here. Not sure if it was trying to install it somewhere different altogether, installing it along with the main game install (elite-dangerous-64) or just NOT installing it (which is what it feels like, since there seems there is never any progress). Hopefully we get some other Lifers/Steam-users to respond and see if ANYONE is actually getting it to work.

Well, my steam launcher did download it, but it stops after its done and just sits at Sync files.

I'm a LEPer and I run Odyssey in Steam (when the servers are up at least...)
I first downloaded Odyssey through the FDev Launcher, and put my Steam Elite Dangerous folder as destination. The FDev Launcher can start the game, but the Steam launcher wasn't seeing it.

I made it work by moving the elite-dangerous-odyssey-64 folder (created by FDev launcher) into the Products subfolder in my Steam install.

Yesterday I ran the EDlauncher directly from the folder where Steam launches it i.e. C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\EDLaunch.exe . When the launcher ran, I had to log in again but after that I was able to install Odyssey, I also noticed that it also placed the Odyssey files under the same place where Steam has placed the other Elite files. i.e. under C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products

I then closed the ED launcher and ran it from Steam as I normally would, the game ran without problems.

I did the same but now cannot download the hotfix for todays update. When I click upgrade, a tiny window pops up and goes away and then the launcher seems to be stuck.

It did work yesterday from Steam using the ENTER key trick.
Today, in Steam the launcher states that it's out of date, and it won't update.
So I'm trying to install ED using the Frontier launcher today.

I'm a lifetime pass holder who uses Steam and is stuck in this spot today. No option to press enter - just a big message that says go back to Steam Jail... :(

Having the same problem. Yesterday I had to launch ED from the EDlauncher in the Steam folder in order to install Odyssey. Today I was playing until the server went down for a hotfix and now I can't seem to update the game or the launcher! Using the EDlauncher gives me the Update button for Odyssey but when I click it the launcher freezes up and never recoverer until I force close it.

PS: Can we please get steam keys for Odyssey in the partner keys section of our accounts page?!

Update: Ok after trying over and over and leting it sit for a while it finally started updating and made it through, I don't know if I just wasn't giving it enough time or Fdev did something server-side but I'm able to start the game again.

For the game update issue, I've confirmed a work around is by going to your game folder (right click Elite Dangerous in Steam games list or use the cog on the right of the game page, choose Manage and Browse local files), once there open EDLaunch.exe, log in using your Elite Dangerous credentials and then you should be able to update, after the update has installed the launcher should run normally again via Steam.

Yeah, that worked yesterday but it doesn't seem to be downloading the new hotfix.

Update: This is now working for me I just had to let it sit for 10 15 mins.

Mine got through fine yesterday. I had to launch the launcher from Explorer first to finish the patch. (Took awhile since it had to scan the files first.)

Mine is working, too. I installed Odyssey when I opened the launcher directly over the stream folder (it's mentioned enough where it is above), had this update problem yesterday after the hotfix but leaving the launcher open for 10 or 15 minutes fixed this problem and it started downloading. I hope we can get a stream key for Odyssey to prevent this in the future.

Just a heads up for those having this problem. While in the EDLauncher, before you click update/install, If you go to Options up top and turn off "Enable Virtual Cache" It fixes the 15 min hang before it actually starts updating.

I found this out by watching a twitch streamer who was looking through the Frontier Support page on a sponsored stream because they couldn't get the game to play lol.
