As title. After checking them out and discovering they can only do (the same) two things each, both of which I can get elsewhere, is there really any point in unlocking these two?
Palin/Sedesi are the only ones for G5 thrusters. The only one recipe you need is dirty drives, which you can pin with the much more conveniently placed Palin. Sedesi can be ignored unless you want to pin clean drives for some reason.
And this is how you answer questions politely @Factabulous, surprised your parents didn't teach you manners.Do they still have the market cornered on the corrosion resistant cargo racks? I would think that would be the only advantage compared to the other engineers of their capability.
Palin provides 1E and 1F corrosion resistant racks, but there's also a 4E corrosion resistant rack available from human tech brokers. Only needed for thargoid items (unless I'm forgetting another non-tharg corrosive item)Could have sworn either elvira or felicity had g5 on thrusters too, guess not. Cheers guys. And yes, pretty sure I read palin was only place for cargo racks, but as yet haven't found need for that.
Do I need that to even loot the thargoids, or just to protect my stuff from the thargoids?Palin provides 1E and 1F corrosion resistant racks, but there's also a 4E corrosion resistant rack available from human tech brokers. Clean drives - explorers sometimes use them in the belief they will make the ship run cooler when jumping/scooping but they actually have a higher power consumption than dirty and so generate more heat.
The only time they have a benefit is when in real space and trying to run a v.cool ship or silent running for extended periods without heatsinks.
The second bitDo I need that to even loot the thargoids, or just to protect my stuff from the thargoids?
Mel Brandon is the other engineer with G5 thrusters, but has far more valuable blueprints for pinning since he also has blueprints no-one else does.Could have sworn either elvira or felicity had g5 on thrusters too, guess not
Good point. Palin closed for a week or so. People. Lost. Their. Minds.Mel Brandon is the other engineer with G5 thrusters, but has far more valuable blueprints for pinning since he also has blueprints no-one else does.
Another reason to unlock both is in case something happens to one of them - Palin's services were temporarily unavailable when he got attacked by Thargoids, Ryder was at risk of being detained by the Empire, other problems might come up later.

Oh, damn, did not know that happened. Must have been before I first played / in my absence.Mel Brandon is the other engineer with G5 thrusters, but has far more valuable blueprints for pinning since he also has blueprints no-one else does.

Oh, those sensor fragments they need are thargoidian? Looks like I ain't getting those any time soon anyway then. Haha. Not even gonna try fighting those yet. There's no compelling reason to unlock both Palin and Sedesi, but as they share the same unlock requirements, it's easy to do. If you've already unlocked Marco Gwent for the invitation, and travelled 5,000ly, and gathered some Thargoid sensor fragments - then why not?
All you need are another 25 sensor fragments, and a detour to Witch Head.
Point 1: Pretty sure my manners were fine in this exchange as I asked a simple question and was met with sarcasm instead of a reasoned response, - proven possible by all further responders, bar yourself. I mean, I don't care, nor am I doing anything about it, but should a real snowflake come along (and dear god they are multiplying all too fast) and be greeted in such a manner, messages such as those would get reported.Ahem, Sir, but if you even go against forum heavyweights like @Factabulous like this (scil: ad hominem) now, aren't you possibly bolder than you should be and obviously on the opposite side of all things good? Can't your manners be questioned instead and even deemed not appropriate? Would you object against being awarded the title 'The Annoying Snowflake' as it has been proposed?
Just asking.

Ah, right, thanks. Not likely to get zerged by thargs am I? I seem to recall reading that tharg combat is optional? Though maybe I'm making that up and it was actually a dream or something. Haha. You can pick them up from Thargoid crash sites on planets. Just take out an SRV, shoot the scattered sensors into pieces and scoop those up.
Engineers - Sensor Fragments for Professor Palin
Hi Folks :) I'm in a bit of a quandary here, I've looked at some of the guides in links on this forum about obtaining these materials but as yet I haven't been successful. [knocked out] One of the guides states I must look for unknown signals with the title of 'Anomaly Detected, threat 4' in...forums.frontier.co.uk

- Trust me, I was on the receiving end of such on another forum. Light sarcasm in a couple of threads, accused of harassment (despite the fact it was clear to anyone it was me who was harassed based on them trolling every post I made and posting inane memes to it) and yet I got banned. So, you know, the snowflakes generally win cause they're the ones who shout loudest.
Point 2: Are you now stalking me looking for opportunities to (attempt to) get on my nerves and call me a snowflake? As I noticed you followed me shortly after our prior exchange, so given this message that seems to serve no other purpose I assume that is the reason? (If so, you have waaaay too much time on your hands. Also, good luck.) I've had a stalker before, (irl - no, really, not even joking) it's funny.
Ok.I didn't even call you a Snowflake, as you try to assume. But I didn't. Prove me wrong if you will
I mean, if that isn't calling someone a snowflake...Would you object against being awarded the title 'The Annoying Snowflake' as it has been proposed?
1. Actually no, looked it up just now.You surely heard of the term.(1) Besides, you can report any of my posts if you will, just as everybody else here.(2)
And no, I'm not stalking you. I'm just doing a study on Postmodernism.(3)
But you didn't answer my questions, mate. How about that?(4)
