Any use for higher than D rated sensors?

honestly, B and C only make sense in an ED world where weight and nimbleness isn't a defining factor of combat effectiveness. Ergo, ED needs competent turret options for big ships before they can put on weight without reducing combat effectiveness.

I think you are forgetting those that cannot afford to A-rate a ship, and those occasions where optimal modules are not available in outfitting. Just because the Cobra is available doesn't mean the Sidewinder has no use ;)

Before I upgraded my video card, having A rated sensors would shred my FPS. This was a long time ago though so performance of A rated sensors on B or C rated PC hardware might have been optimized.

Had not even considered that. Wonder if it's part of the reason for the odd freezes I get in CZs.

That sounds more like the memory leak that used to plague RES sites back around 2.0. Periodic small freezes, then crash to desktop. It cropped up during the beta and was fixed after things went live, if I remember right.

I like A-Rated Sensors for Conflict Zones.

Those few additional km Range have often given me the needed advance Warning when a "Wall of Red" approached while being busy in a local 1vMany engagement.
More Sensor coverage = more Situational Awareness in a CZ and it allows for a better tactical assessment of the tide of war inside it.

Higher rated sensors make much sense when flying a stealth build, allowing early evasion of possible encounters. They also help, when bounty hunting, as the sensor range allows you to keep track of targets in a larger area, meaning faster response time and less missed opportunities.

I use D rated sensors only on my exploration builds.

I put A rated on my mining Python so I can see the nasties coming before they can see me. Other than that, I usually use D rated as the power saving and weight saving for my bounty hunting machines means I can add better things along the line that actually make a difference to the kill rate.
