General / Off-Topic Anybody else sticking with Windows 7?

I must admit, I don't really understand people's aversion to windows 10.

The privacy concerns seem to be made from a molehill to a mountain.
Yes, if you are using a microsoft app, it will collect some information on you.
yes, it might be browsing history, and similar if you are using edge, but even google chrome technically 'collects' this information, how do you think it is able to sync between platforms including history?

The vast majority of the collection happens on apps/programs, and not windows itself, however since those programs are included with windows 10, they need to be under the eula and whatnot statements.

A lot (but yes not all) of the collection of data is of a similar nature, Cortana needs to collect data to be able to understand you and make appointments, interact with your calendar and whatnot, she needs access to those things, and to collect information to be an assistant. And Apple's Siri does the _exact_ same thing, yet people use her gladly? ignoring that everything they say to her is collected or saved in one way or another, in order for her to function as she does.

The vast majority of windows 10's collection is of this nature, and under privacy it allows you to turn it off if you do not want it, or are unsure.

People are afraid it will read your emails? google reads your emails, its how it can provide a great spam filter and give you appropriate ads alongside your mails, and no person is actually 'reading' it, no one is going to judge your emails regardless of what they are, because there's no person to do so.

Facebook is probably one of the worst things out there when it comes to collecting privacy data, and yet people are selling drugs and firearms on facebook, and when they 'shut down' that one page, another springs up, closed groups and whatnot with non obvious names, you would think that if it was that bad, these people would have long since been arrested and it wouldn't even be something that exists on facebook.

And considering how much information people give out to other such sites other then facebook, windows 10 is hardly the big problem in my book at least, especially because it is not in microsoft's interest to make people NOT use their product, so they are definitely going to tread lightly. Then there's the whole thing with payment information, but as far as I've been able to find, it is pure legal speech to prevent people from suing them when your browser saves the information at your own request, you know with similar features as auto complete and whatnot.

So yeah, I feel people are overreacting wildly, but personally I think windows 10 maybe could add a "what do you know" feature or similar, ( I think Cortana has one, though that's only about her ) to everything it collects, and allow users to see what exactly is collected and by what, because it takes a fair bit of digging to figure out that what sounds dangerous is something every program on more or less any OS does, if you want it to perform a specific function.

This question does not require any consideration, because these are people's preferences. Logic does not work here.
I don't know about that, what seems to be the general topic of why not to use windows 10, is privacy concerns. Not simply not wanting to use it because they don't 'like' it.
