Anybody notice a drop in quality...?

Just want to chime in and say i'm expiriencing similar degradation in performance.

had 1.25 SS and 1.5HMD quality until yesterday, everything ran fine inside stations.

Yesterday updated to nvidia drivers 387.92 (oculus home did update as well actually) and now getting bad judder inside stations, had to remove SS completely to somewhat fix it. with 1.0SS and 1.5HMD quality there is still minor judder.

Glad I'm not alone... Sort of. :(

To me, things are pointing to something in the Oculus software, as I've rolled back to the previously known working version of the Nvidia drivers. That said, all I did was a clean install, which supposedly removes the existing ones. I'm going to try and remove all Nvidia stuff an reinstall from scratch to see whether that makes a difference.

Would be interesting if someone using a non Nvidia card saw this thread and posted, as if they have had issues too, then it's likely not Nvidia. :)

Computers. Don't you love them? :D

Not every Nvidia Graphics Card driver update works, have you tried a roll back to previous version?

You could try using DDU to uninstall - it is not recommended for this purpose but needs must and all that.

A few other other things
- Shadowplay turned off?
- check Virtual Reality Pre-rendered frames in nvidia control panel is set to 1 (you could try restoring all settings to default)
- Windows Game DVR set to off? (this is not the same as Game Mode)
- tried excluding ED exe from anti-virus checking?
- did you check for background processes running as a previous poster suggested (good call)?

You are allowed to say AMD...it's not the bad word some people think it is...pretty sure no-one is using an iGPU or a Matrox card to run ED in VR. I'm just kidding with you :)

Update

Well, I finally did a proper roll back of the Nvidia drivers (to version 385.69, which was the previous reliable version for me) by using the utility that Main Sequence suggested to completely remove any existing drivers, and I'm happy to say that for me it has resolved the stuttering. The game runs silky smooth again, in the station, in space, on planets. ASW transitions are smooth, fps is either a steady 90 or 45.

I'm a happy chap. :)

Just a note therefore about my experience. I tried to do a clean rollback by doing a custom install of the old driver over the new one and selecting clean install, however, I am pretty sure that this still leaves newer stuff behind.

I'm glad it's been fixed for you. I've noticed more and more that it's generally bad practice to update graphics drivers every time a new one comes out. Unless you see a fix or improvement in the changelog, I think you're safe skipping the update. If you run into a graphics problem in-game or elsewhere, just remember to update your driver first before troubleshooting. This practice is complicated by the terrible GeForce Experience software, which essentially forces updates (not to mention requires you to log in for some inexplicable reason).

That is why I never install geforce when I update my nvidia drivers.

Just rolled back to 385.69 using clean install option in the nvidia installer. Definitely much smoother. I'm back to using 1.25 SS and 1.5 HMD quality + FXSA and there's barely any judder in stations. I need to test this for longer but so far it looks like latest driver is indeed the culprit.
