Anyone disappointed?

Not disappointed by the game at all, I think it's incredible and is going to be truly awesome indeed.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is there are 1-2 total ****wits out there that are getting some twisted pleasure from killing others time and time again even if they have no cargo, no bounty and have their weapons stowed.

Fully seconded, but please don't let them ruin game for you. At this point they go unpunished (unless player's alpha militia isn't created, hehehe), but in the game - especially if you stay out of Anarchy systems - they will be punished within seconds about their behavior.

There's only one thing I really don't like and that's the side menus; I personally find them clunky to use and they display some information that should be available on the centre HUD IMO. They might look cool but functionally I think they leave a lot to be desired. However, this is a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things as they are "usable" to a certain degree.

Yeah like the undercarriage indicator! Definitely I am sorry we dont seem to have any obvious indicators on the dashboard like we had in Frontier. That is going to be painful many times over I fear.

Thats always going to happen, and when the masses get hold of it it will only get worse. Thats just how online is in everygame.

I'm disappointed that it seems constantly refreshing the forums does not make the beta come quicker, infact I'd say its making it take longer.

I'm not sure about that, from interviews FD seem to have plenty of plans in place to ensure that griefers are not given the opportunity to screw things up for the rest of us.

Plus, don't forget... space is big!

I dont think even FD could do anything about it. There isnt a code invented that can eliminate idiots. People will always find away to annoy people somehow.

But then again should we expect everyone to fly around peacefully only shooting at AI ships and people who have politely requested permission to shoot at each other?

The biggest problem is probably goning to be balance, if somebody grinds cash for a supership and gets a few mates together they could terrorize the galaxy.

Its not a level playing field.

Can you grind in SP then switch to MP, or is Mp and SP 2 separate saves. I hope they are kept separate.

I also hope their isnt any sacrifices made to the SP to accommodate the MP. I'm still undecided wether I will probably want to spend most of the time in SP.

The combination of the grouping system and large bounties put on griefers heads might; and if not David Braben has mentioned in interviews of moving griefers into their own group so they all end up just playing (and griefing) each other...

What the alpha has displayed so far has been miles ahead of my expectations.

While I thought the Kickstarter videos looked good at the time, they now just look embarrassing !

Only issue I have is:

a) obvious things like landing gear and cargo scoop up/down position only being visible from side menu
b) no external view .....and i'm baffled that the idea of having one is so controversial

Realistic asteroid field (like the "asteroid belt" in our own Solar system):
Mostly empty space.
Providing anything but singular objects (big or small asteroids) to fly around?
No.
Fun to fly around and have dogfight in?
No. Or in no way different than near any other singular object.

E: D Alpha asteroid field:
Realistic?
No. At that density would collapse into planetesimal (or planet, if sufficient total mass).
Fun to fly around and have dogfight in?
Yes! :D
Room for improvement, both graphically and physics-wise?
Yes!

Actually it's a ring system around the planet, similar to what you'd find on Saturn - except rocky instead of icy.

The game is coming along great.

This forum on the other hand, has a bunch of self entitled (rather vocal) man babies, who seem unable or unwilling to grasp the concept of what an alpha actually entails and seem to want to vent their spleen at any given opportunity.

Of course everyones entitled to their opinion, as long as it agrees with mine! :p

Is it an alpha, and thus buggy? Yes. Is it limited right now? Yes. Do I want more game than is available right now? Absolutely.

Am I disappointed? No. My biggest concern right now is netcode, and FD are going through the most delicate period right now because they're working on getting combat working right. If they get the kinks out this could turn out really REALLY awesome.

As it is now, it's a diamond in the rough, as should be expected by an alpha.

No I'm not disappointed. Not at all. This is the space game I always wanted to play.
