Anyone else finding SERIOUS problems with the SRV throttle?

The SRV has become unusable.
Material disappears when picked up or the vehicle shoots into the starosphere.
It's no fun anymore.

Don't run over mats with the wheels, if there's a bunch of mats altogether just drive close and pick them up without moving, the moment you try to drive over them to get one the others will indeed shoot off, it's easy enough to get the hang of, it's been like that for a long time.

Not sure what the problem is exactly, whether it is to do with the 'drive assist' but the throttle on my SRV's has a serious 'mind of it's own problem. I didn't really play Horizons so I don't know if it has always been as it is, whether it's changed or whether it's just me?
I will try to do a couple of videos to show the problem but until then I will try to describe what is happening:
So I have my throttle set up so that my primary control for it is the mouse wheel (as it is for my ship) and set to 10% incremental. I push the throttle forward 1 notch and there is nearly always a lag of about 2 seconds before the wheels start moving (mostly). The same for stopping. but it is horribly inconsistent. I mean it works, just, I can get from A to B and I can pick up stuff with the cargo scoop, but most of the time I am fighting against the throttle to do what I want it to do as opposed to what it seems to want to do. It will very often 'stick' and seem to stop moving. And then just when you think it's stopped, even if the throttle is showing 0, it will suddenly decide to move again! But I then go to do something else and the throttle will suddenly move by itself and I will be doing 12m/s!! Especially a pain when I try to stop under the ship or pick up cargo, I have to 'blip' the throttle, forward, off, forward, off, reverse, off just to maintain control.
If I switch off 'drive assist' then the mouse wheel no longer works! What? Please Frontier, someone, sort this out or tell me what I need to change to make it useable.
It's now become my biggest Odyssey headache, and it's 'driving' me nuts!
PS. It does seem to be the drive assist and with it turned off it drives A LOT better. But why does my 'mouse wheel throttle' not work without drive assist!!???
I've had problems with the SRV throttle forever. I used my XBox controller for a while, tried the keyboard, and ended up doing what you do... use the mouse wheel for forwards / backwards. It's set to Full Range, 10%, +Mouse Z Axis and -Mouse Z Axis. Forward Only Throttle Reverse is set to Toggle, but nothing associated with it, so I guess it does nothing. Deadzones are all the way left (no deadzone?). Drive Assist is on.
I sometimes have the problem you do with the SRV stopping and starting without moving the throttle. I hit the brakes, zero the throttle and start over. Usually it works correctly now with the mouse wheel, much better than anything else I have tried.
I'm sure none of this helps... but I feel your pain buddy!

DA on/off is a throttle mode switch, it doesn't actually "assist" driving at all:
1> DA On = The throttle position determines vehicle speed. The SRV will reach that speed using maximum engine RPM.
2> DA Off = The throttle position determines engine RPM. The SRV will reach the maximum speed that RPM can produce.

Compared to vehicles made today: 1 is akin to a dangerously aggressive cruise control. 2 is more like a normal throttle. The SRV defaults to dangerously aggressive cruise control every time it's launched, causing lots of confusion. I use a macro to launch the SRV, wait a few seconds, then turn off lights and DA. It now works the way I prefer.

The only serious problem with the SRV throttle is that the default mode cannot be changed.
