Anyone else have Rift Orientation constantly resetting to weird places?

Does anyone else have this issue? I'm constantly having to reset my rift orientation, because the camera just randomly pops to weird spots. Sometimes it seems like it's a random sorta thing, like I pushed the button and it ended up a little bit off, but a lot of times it ends up in places that shouldn't be possible. Very often the camera will either end up in my player's lap, or up near the top of the cockpit. I've built myself a bit of a sim-char cockpit thing, so it's not like I can move much while I'm playing. I've tried; it's not actually possible for me to lift my head up high enough so that I can reset the orientation such that when I return to my normal sitting position, the camera goes all the way to my lap.

This has been something that's been happening to me since beta. I opened a ticket on it once, and they said they couldn't replicate it, and maybe I had a faulty DK2... but I've not experienced this issue in any other games with Oculus Rift support, including my own development (using Unity)

Just want to see if other people have this issue, so I have something to point to when I eventually open another support ticket.

I was noticing this too, and then realized that I was getting an IR reflection off something behind me, put a piece of paper over a surface that was causing problems and throwing the camera off.

I narrowed it down by throwing a sheet over things until it stabilized and just folding said sheet in halves till I found the source

I realized when playing with the sun facing the webcam receiver it looses traking some time.
Does it happen also in a dark ambient?

Mine works much better at night unfortunately the sun beams directly at the camera most of my game time and I don't like to shut the sun out.

yeah. I usually play at night, with lights off. I often don't even have a monitor in front of me, just one off to the side, with my tracking camera on a tripod.

This has been happening to me since I started playing Elite, over a year ago, and I've been in many different rooms, some without windows, on different setups, sometimes at a desk, in a hotel, in my full sim rig, at a friend's place... In no situation is it ever any better or any worse. it's just, as far as I can tell, completely random.

I noticed the same problem and it took me a long time to realize that the LED from my mouse wheel was being picked up by the sensor. I turned that off and it helped but then my HOTAS has lights it would randomly pick up, same with my keyboard. Manufacturers seem to really love lighting things up these days. I disabled all of them and changed the color of my keyboard LED. You can't turn off the x52's blue screen so I reoriented the IR tracker so it watches me from a different angle. All of that seems to have solved my issues except for the middle of the afternoon when the sunlight beems straight through the window I sit in front off. Unfortunately I haven't found a dimmer switch for BOB (Big Orange Ball) yet.

Edit: my Samsung phone has a blinking notification light that seems to freak the IR tracker out as well. I make sure I play with the phone facing down now.

So, when it happens to you, what happens to the camera? does it just glitch out a little? Or does it go to some completely new location?

I might have to try some of these things.

Yesterday I was messing around with SDK and what ever, I rolled back to SDK 0.6 and my visual started juddering, like micro jumps taking of fluidity in game in all stages, Only in the main menu it was ok.
Maybe is due to my 8gb memories, because switching OFF Bandicam, to capture from the area in the second screen, it became fluid again.
Tonight I will roll back to SDK 0.5 because with super-sampling and Bandicam screen was fluid, no jumping.

Sometimes the visual was also going behind the pilot seat and in CQC a gray screen was appearing/Flashing in front of me, but I think this is given from the positioning tracking

yep same as above post with 0.6 ...

I've been running 0.5 with no issues what so ever, tried 0.6 recently as i wanted to try a few oculus demos and there were all these very strange tracking problems, like my view suddenly flickering into the seat and reseting all over the place. Switched back to 0.5 and all is well again

Who has AERO disabled, In the desktop, right click, go in Personalize, select AERO THEMES. Start the game, you should see a difference. A pop up might appear, select the last voice saying to not show the message any more.
I don't know if it's because of the capture screen. But with this option is fluid again. I just installed 0.5 again and it was juddering, but after selecting AERO THEMES is smooth again.
Hope is not a "Tonight thing"! hahahaha

The thing that makes me feel doubtful about it being an environmental problem is that I never experience anything similar in any other VR game
