Anyone else searching for the NVIDIA Geforce GTX Titan Black?

It's a game, and someone has decided to put a fun little treasure hunt into said game.
More power to them.
This forum really never fails to astound..

Thats a totally rubbish argument. That's no different from suggesting the next Star Trek movie has the Enterprise powered by Nvidia Modules. How do you think that would go down with the millions of Trek fans as blatant product placement?

Hundreds of movies and tv series have impossible things that require you to suspend disbelief to a certain degree but all are generally within the parameters of "science fiction" and NOT gratuitous product placement.. Inserting Nvidia into the game lore is asking me to throw my disbelief off a cliff.

i cant believe you actually said.. within the parameters of science FICTION.. its fiction.. it is what the producers, developers, creaters, authors desire it to be. an existance without advertising.. now that would be wierd and unbelievable

The way people are clearly brainwashed by million pound corporate companies to infiltrate your game (that you paid for) with product placements astounds me.

Enjoy your fun treasure hunt with the rest of the sheep.

so basically there are plenty of aspects within the game that we accept. the developers decide what is and isnt part of Elite Dangerous, thats 1 of the perks of being the developer.

So you basically listed things that suck in the game, that people complained about and the fanboys defended, and people now have to live with as proof that immersion is totally pointless? Circular logic much?

Really ?

Back to the future .. nike
Star trek .. Nokia and Bud

You can look for the dozens of others yourself.

Bring on the real world gains for lucky players, but would really prefer if they are +5 vorpal Nvidia cards !!!one!1!

I take the point but I would personally consider the Star Trek placements quite subtle. Hardly a treasure hunt round the galaxy to find Nokia modules. Back to the Future isn't meant to be taken too seriously. Elite Dangerous is not a parody or a humorous take on the sci-fi space opera. Up until the leaked Galnet news report it was kind of taking its itself quite seriously.

I wouldn't be so against a subtle Nvidia mention. Thats a different approach and slightly more respectful to the game. I don't mind the Nvidia Modules so much as I am totally against the use of Galnet to communicate a competition.

i listed? you do realise that i was a qouting from someone else, and using it as an example of how immersion is subjective, that was a pretty accurate post and makes alot of sense, people are willing to suspend belief and accept somethings but not others. you really need to read the entire discussion rather than just jumping in at the end.. i have no issue with the game, i find plenty fun and immersion.. i dont need to have my hand held or be led by the nose to enjoy something, im an adult, i have a good imagination, and prefer to look for enjoyment than seek out problems. so im not quite sure what point you are trying to make here? ultimately i rather like this promotion, competition or whatever you want to call it.. it helps FD and i feel the creative way in which they have implemented it fits the game.

Sometimes the stereotype fits. Was it lazy? No doubt. I don't want to expend energy fighting the negativity. it's not life and death it's a GAME. More people should try and understand that

Perhaps you should take that idea further, FD realise they are backing themselves into an even tighter niche product and 'need' to continue down a more financially viable path. Part of this is mac/xbox multi platform release' and another is encouraging appropriate real world product placements that can excite players whilst hopefully grabbing a few dolla's.

Now find the 5 cannisters of "insert sexist male humour item here" and gain a years supply would be out of place but a GFX card ?

Until I see a slow down in development which turns into continued adverts or poor paid expansions into a money grab for the company and nothing for the fans/players they can do whatever the heck they want to keep the game rolling.

Yes I did, that is why I said you listed, not you said.

, and using it as an example of how immersion is subjective, that was a pretty accurate post and makes alot of sense, people are willing to suspend belief and accept somethings but not others.
I realised that too, that is why I told you why that is wrong.

I did, but that is obvious without reading anything before your post.

The point was that your list contains alot of things have been critized just as much as this ingame advertising and you taking this list as proof that we can accept this new sucky thing as well is circular reasoning.

No idea why you felt the need to ensure us that you are a joyful adult with good imagination, though.

If I pick up a novel from a respected science fiction author then I expect him to not say something that ruins the story and breaks the illusion of the world he is creating and that I am investing my time in.

With Elite Dangerous this is gritty sci-fi not Red Dwarf.

So you are suggesting Nvidia GTX graphics cards exist in the year 3301? Is that your definition of fitting in the game? The competition has absolutely no place in the Galnet news feed.

The funniest thing about it is Nvidia is still rebranding graphics cards in 3301. :D

Haha ....gritty.haha..sci..haha .fi....can't....breathe.

I am glad I made you laugh but I don't quite know why. What category do you put the game in then? Some kind of humorous jolly along the lines of Spaceballs the movie?

TBH Red Dwarf had some really great sci fi in it.

Oh I agree. Red Dwarf is amazing. But at least you knew its boundaries of acceptability and you knew where you stood.

There should be a law against this, like Godwin's. Besides, that is typically an American stereotype you have lazily co-opted, so "Mom's Basement" would be more fitting.

Hey bro, it's not that big of a deal- I could care less. Go rinse your diaper under the faucet!
