Thats a totally rubbish argument. That's no different from suggesting the next Star Trek movie has the Enterprise powered by Nvidia Modules. How do you think that would go down with the millions of Trek fans as blatant product placement?
Hundreds of movies and tv series have impossible things that require you to suspend disbelief to a certain degree but all are generally within the parameters of "science fiction" and NOT gratuitous product placement.. Inserting Nvidia into the game lore is asking me to throw my disbelief off a cliff.
It's a game, and someone has decided to put a fun little treasure hunt into said game.
More power to them.
This forum really never fails to astound..
so basically there are plenty of aspects within the game that we accept. the developers decide what is and isnt part of Elite Dangerous, thats 1 of the perks of being the developer.

The way people are clearly brainwashed by million pound corporate companies to infiltrate your game (that you paid for) with product placements astounds me.
Enjoy your fun treasure hunt with the rest of the sheep.
Really ?
Back to the future .. nike
Star trek .. Nokia and Bud
You can look for the dozens of others yourself.
Bring on the real world gains for lucky players, but would really prefer if they are +5 vorpal Nvidia cards !!!one!1!
So you basically listed things that suck in the game, that people complained about and the fanboys defended, and people now have to live with as proof that immersion is totally pointless? Circular logic much?
There should be a law against this, like Godwin's. Besides, that is typically an American stereotype you have lazily co-opted, so "Mom's Basement" would be more fitting.mums basement
I take the point but I would personally consider the Star Trek placements quite subtle. Hardly a treasure hunt round the galaxy to find Nokia modules. Back to the Future isn't meant to be taken too seriously. Elite Dangerous is not a parody or a humorous take on the sci-fi space opera. Up until the leaked Galnet news report it was kind of taking its itself quite seriously.
I wouldn't be so against a subtle Nvidia mention. Thats a different approach and slightly more respectful to the game.
it's not life and death it's a GAME.
Yes I did, that is why I said you listed, not you said.i listed? you do realise that i was a qouting from someone else
I realised that too, that is why I told you why that is wrong., and using it as an example of how immersion is subjective, that was a pretty accurate post and makes alot of sense, people are willing to suspend belief and accept somethings but not others.
I did, but that is obvious without reading anything before your post.you really need to read the entire discussion rather than just jumping in at the end.. i have no issue with the game, i find plenty fun and immersion..
The point was that your list contains alot of things have been critized just as much as this ingame advertising and you taking this list as proof that we can accept this new sucky thing as well is circular reasoning.i dont need to have my hand held or be led by the nose to enjoy something, im an adult, i have a good imagination, and prefer to look for enjoyment than seek out problems. so im not quite sure what point you are trying to make here?
i cant believe you actually said.. within the parameters of science FICTION.. its fiction.. it is what the producers, developers, creaters, authors desire it to be. an existance without advertising.. now that would be wierd and unbelievable
So you are suggesting Nvidia GTX graphics cards exist in the year 3301? Is that your definition of fitting in the game? The competition has absolutely no place in the Galnet news feed.
Haha ....gritty.haha..sci..haha .fi....can't....breathe.
TBH Red Dwarf had some really great sci fi in it.
