Anyone else thinking of asking for a refund?

Refund.... lol. Gaming forums crack me up.

Next to CQC, PP is the most underused feature in the game. The threat of getting one-shotted in my best ship by a 14 year old who has spent every waking moment of his/her short existence playing 'puter games, and has the twitch reflexes of killbot with the dial turned up to 11, in a meta-build that I can't see coming, nor have ever even heard of before, is exactly the sort of spice that PP needs.

I would love a reason to fly a viper or cobra mk3 again, and not having the rebuy left to fly my Conda seems like the perfect excuse.

Seriously. This is not sarcasm. It sounds like a laugh. Beats killing AI forever and space trucking until your eyes bleed. And I can always go back to solo when it gets too hectic. Most excited I've been for an update in ages.

I got 2200 hrs in ED I'm with others saying if they pulled the plug on the servers I got my monies worth.

Honestly. I dont like the precedent it will set since it opened up the can of worms for people to start crying they want everything and anything to move to open. PP sucks anyways beside the modules. They need to do a lot more then what is proposed to make me even consider doing PP seriously. If they made all out wars with rewards and actually able to crush powers. Power specific models of ships. Maybe PP career paths with purpose. Thats just a little what I expected out of PP. I might actually join PP and be happy to participate actively in it.

Except Group B has exactly the same ability to counter such actions, they just choose not to utilize them and instead play victim and call the waaaaaambulance.

Now, who's "weak" exactly?

Except that you can't ! If player group A) are working in SOLO or PG then there is little that you can do about it.... You certainly can't use any conventional tactics that I am aware of, such as blockading the ports, or setting up ambush's at nearby systems or anything that is actually fun.... All that you can do is shuttle stuff from A to B or whatever to try and counteract them.... It VERY DULL gameplay and that's why no-one bothers playing anymore....

I thought the Engineers was as low as it was possible to go in bad game design, but here FD is thinking about changing the basic nature of the game after we bought it.
Not that i really care whether pp is open only or not, but just on the principle that FD shouldnt be rewarded for changing the basic nature of the product from what was advertised and sold, I am thiniking about asking for a refund. This sets a precedent i dont want to see play out.
A vendor removing basic features from a product after its sold and the money is in the vendors pocket seems unethical, maybe fradulent, and possibly illegal.

Considering I have some 3,000 hrs on this game, I reckon people would laugh in my face.

(not that I am anywhere near refund-wanting territory)

Nobody wants to take Frontier to court...its a ridiculous comment over a risible amount of money...
On the other hand if a number of people DO politely request a refund BECAUSE of the removal of a significant gameplay pillar and then were refused...and that fact were circulated across regular gaming forum/media/blogs etc and the recirculated on...
It wouldn't exactly look grest from. PR point of view would it? Especially with new game release on the horizon

Well now we're just theorycrafting, aren't we? That sounds believable >____> , considering FD's given monies back to people before; those who were so aggrieved by the lack of an offline mode that they nearly died from the angst of it all. They didn't really deserve it but they cried really really hard and some of them got their disposable income back. FD has been handing out Prep-H to players for all kinds of imaginary and self-inflicted disasters since forever. Go look at how many people get their ships restored due purely to ingame errors they made themselves.

I'd wager the PR would roll more like "Players angry about game development developments", which isn't news in gaming development at all since there's someone angry at every game in existence at any point in the history of video games.

BGS is next. It only makes sense. People that dont "see" this, are the people that yesterday thought "all modes are equal".
The quote was "all modes will be equally valid".

No-one is reading the actual quote:

From the initial inception of the game we have considered all play modes are equally valid choices. While we are aware that some players disagree, this hasn't changed for us.

The thing which is "equally valid", is the choice, not the mode. MB was saying that everyone should be free to "play how they want to play" in whichever mode suits them.

This was never a statement about the game modes having access to the same features/content, because obviously they don't/cannot - solo mode does not allow for any of the multiplayer features like wings for example.

It also wasn't a statement about balance between modes, because by their very nature this is impossible. Solo contains no players, players are way more challenge than NPCs for all sorts of reasons.

What is truly sad, is that not only did everyone warp that statement into something it's not, they also failed to grasp what it was. A hint that we should accept people playing the game however they want, without all this talk of solo cowards and open griefers.

Thats not how things work. Around here we make up our minds, then look up quotes and modify the quotes as needed. FD said, months before Powerplay was released, you will always be able to influence the BGS? Well, now it is about powerplay too! Does it make sense? No. Will we give it a good punt? Heck yeah! FD said every choice of mode is fine, after releasing Open-only content? Clearly they mean all content will be in all modes. Does it make sense? No. Will we give it a good punt? Heck yeah! :D
