Anyone else's ship explode for no reason?

(Before you ask, yes I submitted a bug report)
So, I land on a planet, nothing new there, landing goes great. I'm 19K out from the bubble. No players or NPCs (not that they should be out that far anyway), I figure "now's a good time for a break". Go to the bathroom, not even gone 30 seconds, and I come back to "Your ship has been destroyed". Well, I know it wasn't a gank because there was no commander name, and I've never seen an NPC out that far, let alone planetside in the middle of nowhere. Has this happened to any of you?

where you standing on the landing pad or did your ship go in hanger? Sorry on a Planet survace?
Mabe you pushed the Button for silent running ... Dont know else i can see no reasen if there was no survace things near. Mabe look at the logs

Are you able to look at your log file?

C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

It might give you an idea if you’ve accidentally triggered silent running and overheated or something.

Also, I hope you managed to wash your hands within those 30 seconds :)

Does seem a mystery if things are as described.

- ?? A very rare and unfortunate asteroid strike maybe ?? - ?? Park on a geyser ?? - Hot side of a planet real close to a star ??

I had an Asp with borderline power distribution problems where I landed and deployed my SRV just fine, no problem. But the dismiss cause the ship to power down. Wouldn't leave. Couldn't reboard. Had to log and restart. Called it back but again it powered down when the gear deployed and the ship fell like a stone. Rolled around end-over-end a while in low-G till I realized it was taking hull damage and so I logged again. Resterted in "Dangerous, not Horizons" mode.

Log says "heat damage" and then "Destroyed". Which is strange given that it was 11%, in a DBX, and parked, when I left for the bathroom. So I have no idea. I dont have silent running bound, specifically to avoid that situation. Seems strange that it would go from 11% to exploded in under a minute.

Leave the lights on? Radio? Maybe playing a playlist? Leave a cell-phone on a charger and the battery blew and caught fire?

Check your bindings in any case and be sure if you have a keyboard that you know if there is a silent running binding or maybe a SCB binding.

Heat damage does suggest silent running.

The log should also show if Silent Running has been engaged, shouldn't it? Oh - I just tried and no it doesn't seem to report that. sorry

As others have suggested, check your bindings - I also use a controller and have on the odd occasion accidentally set off a key-combo, also when placing the controller on the keyboard. Thankfully now I use VR and when I remove the headset the controller inputs get nullified.

Paddle on the controller mapped to the other buttons and got pressed when controller was put down? Mine does that but luckily its the D-scanning button.

Would be tricky as would need 2 buttons by default though...depends what you have mapped?

Is it possible to engage silent running when landed on a planet? Thrusters off? I've never tried so may be common knowledge.
