Anyone familiar with using Virpil grip and throttle. Elite doesn't see them.

you say you can see the virpil devices under devices and printers
when you right click on it there and go to its game controller settings and then to its properties does it work there?

That's weird because normally a USB 3 controller can supposedly support up to 127 devices.

"A USB host can support up to 127 devices in a "tiered star" formation, but you can run out of bandwidth if you use too many of them at once. Running a video while writing to both drives could be a challenge, for example. You can also run out of power: a USB device can request up to 500mA, but a non-powered hub can only supply 400mA to be shared between four devices. Using powered hubs usually avoids problems. USB devices don't speak unless spoken to, so it shouldn't matter how many you have connected but idle, as long as each one has its own 7-bit address."

Have you got something hooked up that eats a lot of bandwidth?
I am going to have to go thru all I have hooked up
On a unrelated question. You have a virpil throttle?
What joy sticks will run with the Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle ?

I've run an old Saitek Cyborg, a VKB Gladiator MkII, a VKB Gladiator-K and a Virpil Alpha on a WarBrd base with my throttle and had no problems. I have the older V2 throttle, but I don't expect the CM2 will be any different in its compatability. Windows should see the throttle as a normal USB device.

If you keep having issues you might want to post your problem on the Virpil Tech support forum. They might be able to give you better info there.

Yes I see them under Printers and Devices and I can get into the properties. They do not show up under device manager.

if you can get into properties there and when you press a joy button it should high light if it does the stick is recognised with windows
so it should work in elite
so I suggest you try this if it does work in windows properties but it is just not seen in the game
CLOSE DOWN THE GAME (and pc reboot to clear ram)
then restart pc
then cut and paste your bindings folder to your desktop for now so it is no longer in the correct directory you can put this folder back later without issue
check that the bindings folder is no longer where it is suppose to be IE in the frontier folders directory
now when you RESTART the game it will as if by magic create a new default bindings folder with a new default custom3.0 .bind file inside
now in the game control options pull down menu select custom and try binding something with the virpil ,if it binds you will know your old binding folder on your desktop was causing problems
if it still does not work at all you can put your old binding folder back after deleting the newly generated one in case you still have the warthog just make sure the game is closed down when doing this

Thank you. I will give that a try today.

UPDATE the steam version may be having some kind of issue as another commander has had trouble there with a device not recognised
so this is a final suggestion if any of the above don't work
uninstall the steam version of the game if that's what your currently using
and use the FD stand alone version http://hosting.zaonce.net/elite/Client-Installer-DX11.exe
N.B the above link will only work for fd direct purchases or if purchased through steam before april last year
(which I am sure you did as your a veteren)

Wow you really know this game. I do use the steam to launch ED. If I find it necessary to uninstall I will do so, good to know what path to take. I 'think' I got it working. I set up each device individually with the other unplugged. After looking at a number of youtube videos I see that the prompt saying to unplug your other USB devices comes up for everyone loading their devices.
However I do see Virpil does draw more power than the Warthog I believe.
I did unplug all devices I don't use everyday, so that should help.
On a side note I'm not sure I like the VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle, almost too many buttons. Never thought I will say that but it's a bit confusing.
In any case I think I can use the devices and now just have to create bindings.
Thank you for all your input!

You'll get used to the buttons. It just takes time to find a good set of binds and to adjust your brain to using them. After a while it becomes second nature and you won't even have to look at the throttle to hit the right controls.

Steam sometimes gets in the way.
Provided Windows sees your controllers properly, you could try to right click the ED icon in steam > properties > steam input per game setting, and set it to force off. Restart Steam and see if it works. It helped me with an issue I was having because I use a really mixed up assortment of hardware from VKB, TM, and Logitech.
