Anyone has an date when the "Hostile enemies are not turning red" bug will be fixed ?

Anyone has an update on this ? EDevs said will be fixed soon in Jan or in update 10, but from what I see, no update on this bad bug is available, yet...

I miss the combat, in space.... but as it is now, with this crappy bug, is a total mess, so I stopped since Dec. 2021.
Anyone has (good) news, guys ?...

According to Sally they will be back next week with feedback/news (Monday). They stated last time that the remaining issues may be pushed to update 10, but for the love Braben I hope they put out another Hotfix this week or next for this issue. I have been doing on foot combat but this thing right now is a mess (settlement crashes). Prior to Update 9 I was at least able to jump back and forth between ship and on foot combat when the mission rewards were trash (allied faction paying cheap rewards for difficult missions).

I noticed random CTDs also, without any apparent reason - the exe. process of the game just vanish - no heavy loads, no overheat, just randomly... and getting out of the game is a pain in the .... - only by ctrl-alt+del and killing the process in task manager, 9 of 10 cases... if not, the game just hang there, with a black screen...
So yeah, they do have a mess on their hands to fix...

Try verifying your game files in Steam or running a cache check through the ED Launcher.

Conflict zones become much more challenging when you dont know what ship in the haystack is targeting you.

did this several times, to no avail; I can play 5-6 h with no problems at all, then sudden a CTD... and to exit from game was a forever problem...

You forgot to mention your SLF will not attack the ships who are hammering you...cuz they are NOT red.... Sayonara the days when I could feel safe and brave enough to engage 2 wings of pirates at once ! Now I do not dare to fight more than ONE pirate at once, I ignore wings - I just want to avoid bounties because I killed an innocent miner...
If this is a "feature" I will stop playing ...

May I ask which SLF you're using for your NPC that can hold its own without you having to back it up? I've been using the GELID model IMP fighter that has fixed beams. My pilot can outmaneuver them and strip their shields fast but if they get caught head-on they go down FAST. I'd love a suggestion on a better one to use.

I managed to kill 3 stacks of 250 pirates in Mainani with the new 'ambush' enemies. If there's a wing of 3 and one's a pirate, I get a quick laser shot on the other two so they're red, before I've scanned them, and then I've got something to work with on the scanner.

As for my SLF (gelid, fixed beams, Elite), I just use 'attack my target' as a keybind.

Fixed beam taipan is pretty good.
I do not use beam fighter, only pulse fixed; And the level of AI is most important, an "elite" rank can kill alone, sometime, a Python pirate even a Anaconda .... ( rare thing but still possible. )
The main use, for me, of a SLF is to maintain "busy" other targets until I finish my target, or, most critical, I use him as a very long range weapon ( to attack and keep there a target at 8-12 km, until I bring my ship in range).

That means you lost one of the main purposes of an SLF - the ability to defend yourself from incoming fire - something very important as a miner, since most of the time you do NOT have a direct line of view in the attacking ships - as you are there, inside the asteroid's field.

This is a serious bug, a game breaking one. You do not have time always to scroll between panels in order to "instruct" your SLF what target he must attack, and the bug simply deny one of the main function of a SLF - the one to PROTECT you ( defensive) . The SLF will just stay there, as a dumb AI, and you get peppered by incoming fire...

Don't exaggerate, game-breaking bugs make you completely unable to complete an action, gives you a reproducable CTD, et cetera. It seems like a lot of players just got really lazy and complacent with their automated turrets and SLFs. Mining is a dangerous profession that attracts a lot of unwanted attention, maybe you should take incoming threats slightly more seriously.

I stopped bounty hunting activity, and I read here in Forum many other players stopped also... Allow me to call his "game breaking bug" then, because when a bug stops us playing a modality of the game, imho, IT IS a game breaking bug. We bought SLFs and spent a lot of time and resources to train our AI pilot to ELITE rank, ( my pilot have several BILLIONS in payoffs ! ) and this bug just cut-off one of the main abilities of the SLF...
And NOP I am not one of those who use only turrets, all my ships are 90% or more only fixed or/and gimballed - and I am of those who mine mainly in Haz spots - reason why I need a good SLF ; Now I just stopped mining... or, if need forces me, I go with no weapons a all in a simple hot spot, avoiding combat.
Obvious, this bug will not affect many peoples who only pick up fights of 1 vs 1 - butt this is not my case, now what- if the enemy has a wing of 2-3 or 5 I must run away or hide ?! Or are 2 or even 3 wings of them ?
Pardon me, mate, if I am upset with this bug. Not to comment more in the fact you can easily get bounties and fines because you accidentally hit an innocent ship, when fighting 1-2 even 3 wings of Pirates at once, in a HazRes... Thinking all was working fine before update 9, and now, after 1 month, they still did not fix this, is a bit frustrating... And yet we do not have any ETA on the fix.

Youre just too lazy miner. Scrolling bettween nearest ships around you is that much of an issue? Cant afford to unlock a asteroid for a sec, lock on a ship that attacks you and then issue right command from keybind? This is less than 2 sec... and you dont need move your ship an inch while at it.

Its not a game breaking bug, not even close to it. With just a very litte situation/radar awareness its easy to tell wich ship attack you and what do not. Being red or not has litte to it. Anyone who did atleast got out of harmless in combat, should able to tell this, if not, then I would send them again to practice mode until they git gud with basics.

And any cmdr who plan uses a SLF, they need set keybinds for basic of commands, such as "attack my target" so you can issue comands without need go into command panel. You already confirmed that you not did any binds. I only agree with you about not having time to issue commands from a panel... thats why keybinds exists.

And entire trick using npcs SLF, is to issue that very command correctly. You dont wanna rely on "protection", you are a cmdr and you need able issue orders like one.

So solution for ya:

Bind a command "attack my target" into any key. Once you get attacked during mining, make sure you target a ship that is near you, you can easly tell from just thier hologram and distance. Ships that attacking you will always try get behind, and they will stay within 1km.
