Anyone know if Saitek build quality has improved under Logitech?

Been using a logitech x-56 for years. No company discriminatory problems with it.

The joystick has grown a deadzone over time but its not offensive. The thumb hat switches on the throttle are not pleasurable to use from their fundamental design, and both thumb analogue sticks don't make any sense if you start using them to control elites supermassive spaceships.

Great otherwise though. The throttle does require higher power though (you can tell ifs unhappy the backlighting wont be default blue).

ps. i've used the other consumer sticks.. the thrustmaster setup (its technically more sound but doesn't hold a candle to an x56, and the throttle needs lubing after a while) and the ps4 hotas is a complete joke.

I've been using a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X since I first started playing Elite and has very few issues. I know it's not the fanciest of sticks but it seems to do the job.

When I bought this game last year, I ended up going through two X52s which died in a pretty similar way when their sticks stopped working. For the third HOTAS I decided to go for the X56 instead. So far it seems to be holding up, although the stick doesn't fully centre itself properly which can introduce a bit of drift during long unguided stints in supercruise.
A little deadband interval in the gaming controller software can sort that out.

Original Saitek sticks were very good. I have an original X52 and X52pro both bought over 15 years ago and both having an iffy throttle hat switch.
I got a new Logitech X52pro and I must say you can feel the quality is poorer. The centering on the stick is particularly poor and the dead zones larger than I would like.
It has a a rather loud creaking and at one point very high resistance so I am probably going to send it back.

The doom of these sticks was when Madcatz took over from Saitek with the subsequent Logitech takeover not addressing the quality issues.

I have the thrustmaster FCS which is pretty nice after I modded the throttle.

Going forward I think it will be VKB for me (when available) unless Microsoft get back in the game, lol.

Every Logitech device I've purchased in the past 10 years has failed soon after warranty expiration. I still have a pair of G13's that work perfectly. One has extreme cosmetic wear, the other is like new.

All my actual Saitek devices are still functional. The X45 has a few bad switches. The X36 and both P8000's are still fully functional. Drivers are an issue, so I only use these for retro gaming now.

Based on my experience, quality is much lower under Logitech. I don't blame them though. Quality = lost profit in today's economy.
