Anyone playing 3.3 with a ten key-less keyboard & mouse, no HOTAS?

Asking for a mate.

He's thinking of buying the game but doesn't want to buy a HOTAS, and is also concerned that his ten key-less keyboard won't have enough bindings for 3.3?

He's a hardcore FPS gamer so is very picky with his switches. He loves his currenrt board.

TIA.

Well, when I'm at work and playing on my laptop, I play KB+M (HOTAS on the worktable would look suspicious and frankly, kind of wrong) And I haven't had a problem binding new keys after 3.3

All the new stuff is just another UI screen, basically. So you don't need MORE keys, you just have to re-bind some of the old ones. FSS for example, you can easily use QWEASD keys, there, so you don't even have to move your hand when switching from flying to scanning.
etc.

It's completely playable

Excellent. I was hoping that be the case. My own keyboard bindings could be better, so I wasn't too sure myself.

Thanks, coming from you that puts any doubt I had aside.

Plenty of keys.

The 10-key is nice for things like landing gear, hardpoints, system map, etc., but it isn't necessary.

My 10-key numbers are all mapped to fighter commands, but I forget what they are anyways, so...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who constantly forgets the fighter commands. :D
They are one of the few things I'm too lazy to add to VA and in the end I put "Attack" command on one button I don't use and I deal with the rest via the role panel. :D :D
