Anyone use the Rift Microphone for Voice Attack commands?

Well I reset my windows last night.
Only done some very basic testing but from what I gather the rift mic now sounds better than my g533 headset.

@ Tor - Cool.

How does sound work when using a separate headset? You know, spatial awareness and positioning and etc?

About the same as the difference between any two differing headsets.

Minor variations in sq aside, there is no real problem or difference with spatial and directional from audio.
That is all done via the game and the head tracking on the set.

Although. It seems perhaps the rift software somewhat tune for exactly the headphones on the rift.
Problem is when I'm actually wearing the rift, the mic sounds as if it was sitting on my uvula.

But at least the oculus driver issues has been fixed, same as i guess a driver reset would have, It just sound really muffled..

If it wasn't for the microphone, I would have just used the rift phones, it's a lot easier and sound isn't that bad really.

Another commander who thinks the Rift mic is rather fantastic for something built-in like this. I've been very impressed with the sound on whole as even the small headphones sound pretty fantastic for what they are. I use my Rift mic for input to both Voice Attack and Discord. At times I'll be chatting in Discord without my Rift on so I switch to the USB headset I used for years before the Rift. It's nothing special, pretty cheap actually - and every time I switch to it people grumble that I sound awful. When I go back to the Rift everyone's happy again and can't believe it's the Rift's mic is sounds so good.

When not playing my Rift hangs from a hanger on the left side of my sim cockpit with the door to the room on the right side, about 15' away. I can walk in the room and in a medium voice, not yelling by any means, and I can speak commands and have VA hear them just fine. I have a few macros that control my Philip Hue lights so I can poke my head in and say "Computer, Lights" (think Star Trek) and boom, the lights fade up perfectly. It's very rare I have to say the command twice. When I'm wearing the headset I never have to repeat commands.

You said you did the initial voice training in Windows, have you done the extended one that takes a good while, like 10-30 minutes? I did that one right after setting up VA so I'm not sure how bad it would have been without it but with it's great for me.

I have a similar issue , trainied and used my A50s for ages . without issue - when I use the RIFT thou (change sound source etc, restart VA) - its not 'hearing' my words correctly.
So .. did you "train" using a standard headset \ or somehow train with the RIFT on ?

You should run the training for each and every microphone you want to use.
Simple, different microphone means slightly different sounds and speech recognition is far more hung up on minutia than the human brain.

If you train with the HMD fully on, and you should, I would install bigscreen in the oculus should still be in free beta and definitely a good app to have.
You then just enlarge the virtual desktop to a size so you can read and run through the training normally.

Works pretty good although there are times I have to yell disengage as it fails to recognize it the first time but other times it recognizes it right away. A few bugs in it but not enough to not use it.

Sadly I've had to revert back to my original Stealth 450 wireless headset as for some reason over the last few weeks the rift setup got worse the more I used it got to the point of having to repeat the command a number of times and steadily raising my voice to the point of shouting {wife complained a couple of times } now i can whisper and every command is acted on right away, really don't know what the cause was and I haven't given up fully on the Rift setup just having a rest from fiddling with it and getting on with flying my ships, and reading up on problems others have got fixed in the hope something will fix my problem ;)
