Anyone using a "control panel" peripheral?

Sorry for my imprecise language but I am not sure what it is called - if it is still around - it was pretty handy so I will guess it is.

For personal reasons I have found that I am kind of "meh" on the HOTAS concept but I certainly miss all the extra buttons.
Perhaps the excellence (and familiarity) of the T16000M has spoiled me. And I am certainly looking at the T16000M HOTAS when released however...

Years ago (and I am not even sure what they are called to Google plus I wanted to make sure they work with ED) there used to be a peripheral sold for gaming.
Basically it was a square looking device - almost like a big calculator or mini-keyboard - and it could be used for a ton of extra game functions. Like a "joystick buttons #15 to #50" device kind of thing.

Anyone know what I am talking about?
Anyone using one for ED?

Not sure about the product you're refering to is but these days?

If you have a Tablet not doing much then Roccat Power Grid is always an option. (Link is to the Elite Forums thread) That may give you the functionality you're looking for

Yes exactly like the Roccat Power Grid but it was a plug-in device to your computer. The little pad would sit next to your joystick.

I like the Roccat concept but I use enough data already on my phone and my poor (for ED) satellite connection.

Apart from downloading the Roccat software, all communications is between your PC and Tablet/Phone. It's not going to up your data usage over SATCOM. Your PC acts as the server. Or have I misunderstood your concerns?

Yes it works over your local wi-fi.

No it was my misunderstanding. My apologies.

Anymore I equate "smart phone" with "data useage." And since I use the heck out of mine - from paying bills, checking the weather, to coming here - I find it all adds up very quickly!

And thank you gentlemen for the above links. They look pretty slick.

They (now bookmarked) and the Roccat were exactly what I was thinking and hoping for. Now to check and experiment around.
Thank you!

Well if anyone is interested I went with the G13. Should be here next week.

Looked at the Roccat but remembered that I am getting a new I6 in a week or two. And the G13 looks like it will easily do everything I wanted plus being half the price of the Razor was a nice bonus.
