Apparently I don't own the game after 700 hours of play?

Anyone know what to do?

I play through Steam it brings up the launcher and wants me to log in.
I do so and it sends me a code.
I put the code in and it says I need to buy/ redeem the game???

I own the game in fact I own two copies!

From what I've been able to gleam, both Steam and Battlenet are under some kind of DDoS attack, it's interfering with Steam's ability to connect to game servers. In some cases you can get around it, depending on the game, but Elite isnt one of them.

All we can do is wait for Gaben to smite the thugs.

So, to improve gaming, now we don't only have to worry about the actual game's servers being down, we also have to worry about the game's market space being down as well. As we all know, the best way to improve stuff is to add needless levels of complication to stuff. ;) 😁
As someone who usually defends Steam, this time it's actually Steam's fault. I was having the exact same problem trying to get into Red Dead Online last night, due to Steam's authentication servers being broken (supposedly due to DDoS). I like the idea of Steam being a one-stop shop, but I hate that it also is a one-stop authentication server, rendering ALL of my online games useless when it goes down (thus literally being a "one-STOP" attack vector)..

That's why my Steam library is less than 20, and my GoG library is over 800 :)

I have a Steam account (for some reason I can't fathom so it must have been a beer night) but I hardly ever use it. Never had much truck with Steam :D

The error message is misleading. It should rather be: "Frontier cannot verify the license because the account provider in possession of the attached license is unavailable."

This error can occur if you bought ED on Steam or Epic Game Store and either applicable store is down.

Logged into my general Steam account and got this.

With all the problems Steam has with Elite Dangerous I always buy direct from Frontier. Many other Frontier games are Steam only which I haven't purchased but don't see a lot of problems with them on the Forum. My other Steam game is X4 Foundations which I have never had any issues with. I setup two shortcuts for playing via Steam and local. It's been so long since I've played X4 that I don't remember how to take off!
