Appeal to Community: My Password for the Game Stopped Working and I had to Reset it...

I've been doing desktop support for decades. Kaspersky is hands down better, far better, than any of the freebies (Avast, AVG, etc.)--there are large differences between the AV vendor products in terms of detection, performance, etc. Kas has been tops for quite a while. Heck, once upon a time I gave Avast and AVG a run on some of my machines back when Vundo was a major player in the virus space. Kaspersky machines never got it--the Avast and AVG ones did. Haven't touched either of those products ever again.

Even among the paid AV products, there are large differences--McAfee and Norton are both pretty good at detection, but performance for both are awful. If you game, stay away from 'em.

I don't really care if my AV products are free or cost money--I want them to do their job, and do it without slowing my machines down significantly. Kaspersky fits that bill very well.

Kaspersky now offers a free version, as with all free versions of AV, the anti-virus protection is the same as what you get with paid, it's the other modules (which IMHO are not necessary anyway) that are missing.
AVG let me down once, never used it again.

All AV packages have weaknesses, I've seen every single one of them fail. Admittedly when McAfee or Symantec fail, the whole computer is screwed and needs to be wiped - but this needs to be done anytime a virus gets through if you really want to be safe.
