apply engineer craft elsewhere than the engineer location ?

hello
I now have some materials, data to upgrade my fsd with F Farseer till grade 3
The 1st time I visited F Farseer plant i updrage to grade 1 then I UPLOAD drawing for experimental purpose I think
Yesterday I tried to apply grade 2 with all components needed but the experimentall box is i grey so not accessible. I did not have have to the modification application
Are the experimental and upgrade only possible at engineer facilities like deciat for F Farseer

What grade of access have you reached with the Engineer?

As I understand it if the Engineer unlock is only at Grade 1 then only Grade 1 modifications of the pinned blueprint will be available remotely.

You can still add the main upgrade.

If you unlock several engineers you can pin a whole range of basic upgrades to use on a new ship. I've done ships remotely like that and it's very handy. Ultimately though visiting the engineer is the way to get the very very very best, as you can (only) add the special effect there.

You can pin and remotely apply a grade 5 mod and add an experimental effect at any engineer that offers at least grade 1 of that mod.

Example: Palin in MAIA does grade 5 thrusters, but you only have to go there once, since you can use remote modding and have the experimental added by Farseer or Martuuk
