I saw a thread with the same title.
Well its sad but most cheats in Elite Dangerous are not banned they also don't play Elite Dangerous they just cheat and hack the game and are very proud of that fact. The most Famous Cmdr in Elite is now proud of the fact he has more that 2000 PvP kills by cheating, he uses shield hacks and station hacks so that the station thinks he is part of their security force, their is even web sights on google teaching players how to cheat in the same way he does.
The most famous cheat even has several threads on reddit now bragging about it.

Yes I know the other thread was close as will this one be closed but as I have decided to stop playing and buy one of the better Space sims who cares.

They should be exiled to the shadowban realm indefinitely, as a lesson to others who adopt such tactics.

Sadly it doesnt seem to happen.

Just curious: how does someone else doing that affect your game play?

as i understand it, if caught they are banned but there are many who are still playing unpunished.

it is imo the main downside of pc competitive gaming as a whole, and not just an ED problem. it is also why i have largely given up on competitive MP gaming unless it is with friends or largely trusted groups.

last time i played BF4 is was simply ruined, eventually punkbuster banned at least some of the cheaters, but by that point the game is ruined, and it then makes you lose faith in the whole game and potentially question every bit of good play.

thankfully it does not affect me too much in ED as luckily i only play as a co-op MP game and those in CQC generally seem to not take it too seriously (when you can find a game)

Wow. What game these days doesn't have people who can exploit glitches hacks etc.... As someone else said, how does it affect you? If it does bother you that much or affect your game, report it. Simple as.

If players are getting banned for cheating you and I would never know. The assertion that no one is caught or taken to task is beyond our knowing. Certainly the miscreant wouldn't tell the world they have been caught, and FD, along with all the other Developers out there, don;t release any information like that. Even when you/I report an issue, they remind you that they won;t be informing you of the outcome.

Report, with the best evidence you have, and move on.

Given this game has a shared universe - a player killing 2000 players will certainly have some kind of impact on the background whatever those people were going to do/on the way to do.

No matter how small, it impacts MY game. Cheaters need to      and keep off my game.

Any real evidence or examples of these 'hacks' or 'cheats'? I understand that any attempt to mod by programming is a bannable offence, so report it and move on. If on the other hand, genuinely earned advantages are an acceptable part of the game; take notes and improve your chances, by doing the same.

Version x.We decided to add an Anti Cheat Program in this multiplayer game in the year 2020 that we have been developing for 6 years.

Being a life time backer I look forward to this future update.

To be fair Ian, the individual mentioned in the OP's has been doing this for quite some time, been reported countless times and openly gloats about their actions and how they go unpunished.

The fact they're still regularly reported/seen in open indicates that in fact even in something so clear cut as this that a lack of attention is being shown by FDEV on the matter of cheating.

Personally I would rather FD not tell us when they add or update their anticheat system. There is no point in letting the 99.9% of players know because they play fair. The 0.1% that cheat deserve whatever punishment they get from FD without warning.

It could be Psychological warfare. If he claims that he is using shield hacks and is invincible, some players may not even bother to fight him and run. Why fight something that can't be killed?

And if you made it your mission to kill as many defenseless players as possible, I am sure you too could rack up quite the kill count in 2 years.

Really? I know nothing of this individual. Have you reported them with evidence?

Boasts on the internet aren't worth the paper they are printed on. :)

Do you believe everything you read on the internet? How are FD supposed to be convinced that the claims are true, based on some Reddit threads saying 'I'm a super-duper cheater and they can't catch me?'

FD would need to be convinced, with supportive evidence, and even then they would not publish anything about actions they take.

in which case an entire forum has been made up surrounding it complete with links, guides and support for when certain cheats are not working, obviusly not sharing the link but it was a 5 second google.

face it, there are scumbags cheating in ED and they have been since launch. sucks but it is what it is.... and as i said its not only ED so its not a pop at FD, tho i wish there were more banned for doing it. i guess it must be hard to catch them
