Are cheats banned?

Hackusations based on ignorance of game mechanics. OP, for wanting to not talk about each other you got very specific about Harry. He doesn't mind being talked about here, he's got nothing to hide. Just about everyone knew who you were talking about, you just found a loop hole in the name and shame.

In fact Harry has been vetted multiple times, in turn teaching the people at FD who were putting him under a light, about their own game.

That being said, do you have any evidence to back your original statements, or do you wish to continue to be ignorant to game mechanics?

I have feeling that you have some very outdated info, as far I know, FD did good job to detect cheats and cheat makers quit making cheats lately...you can Google it for more info...
very correct sir....it all will get detected by FDs anti cheat.

as with most games in this day and age, a cat and mouse game normally happens between dev coders and ...ahem.....freelance coders lol.

Since naming and shaming is suddenly allowed, please point in the direction of the video.

Apparently not, seen as that post was culled. :/

Again to be clear seen as the pertinent bits of my last post have been culled along with the rest of it, I want to make this clear.

At no point am I saying SDC or Sundae himself or any other pvp group are using hacks. All I said is that there are individuals out there who are known hackers and continue to carry on unpunished, much in the same way as we have known combat loggers who flout openly that they're doing it who carry on unpunished, or people who post on this forum how they fiddle with their router and port settings which allows them to fly in Open without seeing other individuals.

I see these three things as being against the spirit of the game as well as cheating and that they should be punishable offences using the method frontier have declared they will use for them (at least in the case of the first two): Shadowbanning.

When in fact all the evidence points to the opposite: That they don't punish these individuals, as can be seen by them constantly turning up in open and doing the same thing over and over.

A little off topic, but its amusing and at the same time a little sad seeing the folks that hide in solo questioning how cheating might affects others in ED.

While I have no problem with how people chose to play provided its within the rules; its hard to imagine that folks can be so insular they cannot understand how the actions of one might affect another in the overall play space. For their sakes I hope they are not that blinkered away from the PC.

Just curious: how does someone else doing that affect your game play?

It would cause havoc if they all done Powerplay imagine the chaos ;)

gentlemen

this is a subject i have been keen on for many years and have a lot of knowledge on the subject..

its safe to say there are not any current hacks/scripts/trainers for ED.

You could use a simple program like ArtMoney with patience you could locate certain registers and values to adjust to do whatever you want to the player ship without issue this is how trainers work. I actually completely hate cheating in games yes I have hacked and cheated in single player games only once I completed them to see if there was anything else in there that I missed, but I never would hack a multiplayer game.

Agreed.

I didn't get that part either.

I suppose at a push you could argue that something that makes you unkillable by NPC's could be used to exploit BGS manipulation or Powerplay merit accrument, but I think that's really pushing it.

I saw a thread with the same title.
Well its sad but most cheats in Elite Dangerous are not banned they also don't play Elite Dangerous they just cheat and hack the game and are very proud of that fact. The most Famous Cmdr in Elite is now proud of the fact he has more that 2000 PvP kills by cheating, he uses shield hacks and station hacks so that the station thinks he is part of their security force, their is even web sights on google teaching players how to cheat in the same way he does.
The most famous cheat even has several threads on reddit now bragging about it.

Yes I know the other thread was close as will this one be closed but as I have decided to stop playing and buy one of the better Space sims who cares.

We use a delayed banning system. We do not ban them on the spot. That way, it makes detection of what cheat when and where was used much more difficult for the cheat makers.

If you feel said player(s) are indeed cheating, report them ingame, file a ticket with customer support with any and all proof that you have.

yes or Cheat Engine....mem injection tool and value finder editing ect

If you would use google correctly, you ll see that FD is banning a lot of people and have increase their anti cheat system, especially on server side.

I think they are doing good on that subject.

I'd be interested to find out why Sundae's posts have been removed from this thread.

I'd also like to see some kind of video evidence to support what I consider to be a serious and defamatory accusation.

My friend cheats, I know this because he's shown me when I was at his place. He uses a tool he downloaded to cheat the game and has been using it for around 5-6 months or so with no ban or even warning.

This leads me to suspect Frontier either don't have the manpower to track cheats or its simply not high on their "to do" list.

For the record I do not cheat as I fail the see the point.

The problem I think comes from the naming and shaming policy leading to confusion over who we're talking about, or if we're generalising on hackers as a whole.

Clearly the OP (who hasn't offered video evidence) is posting about someone entirely different to whom I was thinking of (where there are multiple video evidence links from different commanders over the course of a 6 month or so period). I think Sundae waded in assuming we were talking about the same person.

This post comes across as a bit of a Clinton. "I have smoked dope, but I didn't inhale. I actually hate dope heads. I only tried it once to see what it was like or to see if I was missing ssomething. But I would never smoke it again, or inhale."

I'm curious about that too. It seems Frontier are now allowing people to start slinging mud at other players in violation of the name and shame rule. The problem with defamtions like this is that when people do throw mud some of it sticks regardless of the innocence of the accused.

Not really. Dropping the console in a single player game of Quake and typing impulse9 is nothing like using wallhacks on CS:S.

Have you seen this recently and he is not banned? Why not give more info in this thread as to how he is cheating, where he gets the cheats, what it does, etc. - so the developers can become aware and stop your great 'friend' from doing this???

So if we are naming and shaming here and almost every post is being deleted, why not close the thread as it has no discussion and is just slinging mud at frontier and falsely accusing another player of cheating. Seems to be the obvious choice.

While FD cannot/will not give info about hacks/cheats, and discussing them in general is not allowed, there is some information being presented in this thread that does not seem to match what i know about the current state of the cheats.

What i've learned from reading the most well known cheat forum is that the current version of the cheat is detectable by FD, people have lost accounts (one guy has lost 5), and that the general advice from the cheating community is don't use the current version of the cheat, because you will get caught and banned.

As icing on the cake, the main dev who was working on the cheat is no longer developing it, leaving those who still want to cheat floundering.

Naturally i cannot share the link here, but its easy to find if you have any level of google-fu.

Two whit:

1) Anyone cheating in game at the moment must be using a cheat that might not currently detected by FD (or might be, and they are profiling the cheat in order to block it)
2) FD do have anti-cheat protection.
3) People do get banned and have had accounts locked/sent to shadowban permanently

and ill hazard to add a last one based on speculation

4) If the CMDR in question is cheating, and has been boasting about it like OP had claimed, its highly likely he would have been busted already.

If correct, they have not been cheating. At worst, they might have been exploiting game mechanics to play unfairly. While there is some irony to be found there coming from (presumably) a player who condemns using a legal game mechanic like menu exit to avoid combat (aka: Legal combat logging), and same as that, its not against the rules unless its clearly against the rules or FD says it is.

So, i suggest people calm down and stop the witch hunt please.

If you see something you suspect as being done as an exploit, report it to FD.

You might want to call your friend and check to see if they can still play.... and just possibly advise them to stop cheating, because FD have stepped up their game.
