Are founder's benefits not in the spirit of the game?

My first thought on not being able to travel to the Sol system was "What? I'm locked out? That sucks! But why is that? Is it just to keep us out of familiar territory and encourage exploration?"

Then I found out it was a founder perk. And that was okay. But I was still jealous.

Then I found out it's unlockable by improving your rankings.

And I don't mind that at all. It's a goal to shoot for :)

You should not be able to go to Founders world if your not a founder. You can go there if you hit Elite status but your STILL not a Founder.
I wish the original Founders had FNDR instead of CMDR next to there name, something unique that nobody else has unless your another Founder.
Michael Brookes said there was more coming in the Future for Founder backers.

The OP got the title wrong. It should have said "Are founder's benefits in the game?"

As I see it - £50 extra over lifetime backing, and all I got was this wonky decal.

(and even that decal took much arguing to finally get it implemented for v1.3)

Hopefully things will improve. v2.0 is certainly a step forward for the game overall, so at this point I'm not going to gripe too much, will just wish everyone a "Merry Christmas!" from us poor misunderstood and overlooked Founders.

The chess analogy really doesn't work. A better analogy would be starting a poker game with a few extra chips. Ultimately the spirit of the game is you against the galaxy, what any one else has is irrelevant. There is no level playing field in the game with so many variable factors. Would the OP suggest that everyone gets reset to a Sidewinder and 1000 credits every time a new player starts?
