General / Off-Topic Are Russians really violent or is that a stereotype?

I'm from Canada, I was wondering about this because I met some Russians that are awfully considerate and friendly.

Of course the most likely response to this thread would be "well, just look at what they did in Ukraine", but people say that is the Putin government's problem and not the people's problem.

Is it true that Russians are violent or is that just a stereotype?
