I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this before but it struck me this morning.
What if the flower ships are the thargoid's children?

Does that not look a birth and a youngster suckling?
Maybe the aggression we are seeing can be likened to the actions of a child curious about it's world who ,not realising it's own strength, might accidentally crush an insect because it hasn't realised that small creatures are fragile. Or maybe their interactions with us could be seen as a child poking an ant's nest with a stick, not through any malice but out of genuine curiosity.
If this is true, I worry about what's going to happen when the parents arrive with a metaphorical kettle of boiling water.
