Are there any plans to sit our NPC crew members in the empty chair in the cockpit?

Only person I want in my passenger chair is "Inflatable Simon - The Lonely Pilot's Friend" (also available in Susan flavour)

I would really like for this to happen. If they have to zap all of the crew photos and recreate them to make it happen, so be it.
 
Now that APEX taxis can have 2 people physicalised in the cockpit, same with multi crew, why not extend this feature to NPC crew?
It's something that I'd really like, ideally with a function (i/e you need crew to operate the advanced docking computer or to do the autoland on planets, operate turrets) or even just to fill up the empty bridges.
It's been asked for many times and fairly recently Stephen Benedetti responded with "...we have nothing to announce at the moment" to an AMA question.
I've no idea why they're reluctant to introduce this but hope they do in the future.
 
This whole thing with visibility of multi-crew and NPC co-pilots is backwards...

So if another Cmdr is in multi-crew with you, you can see him but he's not really there. He's there via tele-presense. And if your ship is destroyed he does not pay a re-buy.

But if an NPC is with you as crew, you can not see him but he is really there. And if your ship is destroyed you pay an additional re-buy cost to get him back.

This sums it nicely. There can be so much more added with better use of our crew, but considering how much time was needed to at least apply possibility to keep them with rebuy I fear it will need few more years. One can still hope however.
 
I only support this if its an OPTIONAL thing. I quite like having my ship to myself. If it's a toggle so that we dont have to hear incessant shuffling or chat from this body or peripheral movement and i can disable them. fine.

Retcon Telepresence Multicrew.

Remote piloting fighters - makes sense, paper thin in combat, safe.
Telepresence connection across up to tens of thousands of LY - ehhh what?

Multicrew should always have just been "spawn in host's ship because gameplay requires it". If you need a lore explanation, you're inhabiting a member of the host's NPC crew.

I think it should offer the choice to put an AI equivalent in the same "slots", for those who like the quiet.

That way, people could enjoy the gameplay benefits of such a crew management sim, without their ship feeling different.
