Are there new srv's in the pipeline?

Hard to imagine how that would fit in any (current) vessel. Does any craft have a door/hatch through which it could deploy? Unless it's the signature feature of the Panther Clipper? :) Otherwise, maybe you can just sling it underneath?

actually, the Federal dropship has something behind the cargo hatch that looks like it could be a bigger ramp

given that the cargo hatch can contain a car sized SRV, i could imagine a truck fitting between the two engines (i could even measure that out if i wanted :D)

I want much more cargo space. Better weapons. Better thrusters. More speed. Mining equipment. And a better sensor.

Mining truck. Refinery, mining laser and a bit more cargo. Need to have decent mineral deposits to find and dig up though.

Combat SRV. No cargo but with extra weapons. Maybe a rocket launcher of some kind.

TBH I think these would do but I would really like surface game play to be fleshed out more than extra vehicles. More stuff to find/do while planetside. Maybe even subterranean content?
If we got more planetside content maybe we could engineer the SRV's for different roles rather than having completely new types of rover?

The Jordan Tractor from Aliens seems a natural progression from the SRV. Something you could spend an entire game-session in, exploring the one panet/moon. As said earlier, this would require more planet content to justify but I would dig it

For a new SRV one would need new content to justify it. I personally wouldn't like anything slow. Driving the SRV is already loads of fun, I don't go out of my way just to do it for fun, but when I need materials driving is not a chore. I would like to see a more complex algorithm for terrain generation though. As of right now it feels like a push and pull situation on the polygons, the way you'd make a simple and quick terrain in 3dsmax or whatever you use. There are no steep drop offs or walls that cannot be driven onto.

Nice, you're right it would seem like the next step up.

It'd be nice if they there were surface stations in caverns / under overhangs which can't be landed on. You have to land close and drive in the cargo in a surface vehicle.

Eh, we need the SRV-Zed for a skookum deal. Land on an ice planet with the SRV Zed (Zamboni edition) , build a nice rink. When we have legs invite your buds and have a nice hockey brawl. Until then a fun ice slide race goin' for a rip while your flooring 'er for a couple klicks to the timmies down the way.

Crawling on the ground in 3300ish, nah.
They got the SRV/moon buggy totally wrong, there should be no creeping over the surface with a 1940's style oscilloscope to ping onto the silly little rocks on the surface.

What a bunch of numbskulls.

Come on whoever designed that concept/vehicle stand up so i can chuck a pie at your face.

Yes, that's exactly what crosses my mind; a reason to want to go investigate something on the surface in a larger utility vehicle. I suppose that 'unknown trailer' possibly hints at caverns and/or more interesting landscapes. Fingers crossed

So far Frontier has almost always followed up on their initial plans as sketched in the early concept artworks. Based on this assumption, I bet that 1) yes, we will most definitely see different SRVs, and that 2) they will look something like this (from the artwork book)

I prefer a combat oriented SRV over a big sluggish truck. It would be more fun to have like a tank, combat SRV and NPCs to fight against at bases.

Such the hover combat vehicle in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak
