Are we all beta testers for the console release

Yes we are, and its a sad state of affairs, so many games are tailored for Console these days, which in effect dumbs down the PC versions. But in seeing how poorly this has released, I am not confident for the console players with this xpac when it finally releases for them either LOL!

This is being done live, so I'm not doing any testing. I have only one question: "Can I explore properly in VR?" If the answer is to this is "Yes," then I'll play the game. If it's "NO," then I'll wait for the next patch, and repeat the question. Rinse and repeat until I can explore these new worlds in VR, without having to put up with a buggy detailed surface scanner. I've put up with a buggy full spectrum scanner for over two years now. I have no desire to repeat this experience a second time. :(
Well... I lasted all of an hour once I got home and had supper, before I decided to 2D it for now. ;)

What is the likelihood that EDO will get certified to be played on consoles?
What happens if it does not?

Right now, they simply can't. We'll see by the end of the year if they can.

As for what happen if they can't at all ? That would mean no release on old gen console. So, they'll be stuck to horizon forever, while we are on Odyssey, and possibly whatever happen next. Eventually, they'll probably need to separate the server for BGS/FC and the like, while the console version is left on maintenance mode.

Needless to say, that will be a big s****storm.

Not sure how likely, but I suppose they might have to crunch it in the coming months. There's just too many bugs and issues to fix, in addition to VERY substantial optimizations needed. That's no simple task at all.

I think that is basically what all odyssey customers are.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the road map to say the least, I was hoping that we would have had some indication of future development plans and upcoming features to the game, not 5 weeks of bug fixes and hoping it's all fixed for the consoles lol.
Imagine, Frontier announcing a bugfix roadmap was incoming, and then releasing a roadmap that only had bugfixes on it! 😱

Who could’ve predicted such a thing?

CMDR Darkfyre, At the moment, many ED VR players with Odyssey will likely do as you did or they will even stick to EDH and wait for a full VR on foot Odyssey experience. EDH is surely a tremendous VR experience, being "inside" your favorite ship or your SRV is amazing, so immersive. After 1200 hours of VR game play, I am still in awe of ED in VR, I love being inside my Cobra and srv, experiencing the wonders of ED in full VR. Unfortunately, EDO on foot game play presently isn't on the same level of awe inspiring VR immersion experienced while enjoying the utterly fantastic ship/ srv VR game play. Hopefully, that changes. o7

It really appears like they didn't learn anything from dismal releases of the past several years. Honestly, for as bad as the gameplay was versus what they were advertising, I'd say Odyssey is approaching No Man's Sky levels of launch fail.

[...] I'd stay Odyssey is approaching No Man's Sky levels of launch fail.
Yet I have zero hopes for FDev doing a comeback anywhere near like the one NMS had after the terrible launch. They will eventually fix many bugs and performance sure, but nothing like adding enoumous amount of content for free.
