A nice surprise would be a rebalancing of shield regeneration rates so that it doesn't ever take 10 minutes of pure waiting for a bigger shield to refill. This is one of the reason the FSD-shield-recharge exploit is so prevalent (for the record I am not using it). Sitting there for 5 minutes, 10 minutes or longer, just doing nothing is not just boring, it is infuriating, and puts all emphasis on equipping massive numbers of SCBs.

that is a good point. IF that is a lot of work perhaps a compromise and something easier to implement, or at least something to dabble with, would be that, whilst you do not get an immediate shield reset when in supercruise, perhaps, when in SC more power can be routed to sys, to get an overcharge so that shield recharge in a max of a couple of mins or something.

on top of that, perhaps an automated system that auto shuts down the shield boosters until AFTER shields are back online and recharged (this is something which can be done manually at the moment, but it is fiddly imo and is soemthing which one would think we should be able to set up via out settings in advance rather than faffing when under fire).

We had a very similar DEC Alpha vs Sun Microsystems cubical race. This was some time after their days of glory.

(No RISC systems where harmed during the events mentioned)

Yeah so there was no RISC to you racing around the office? ;)

I must be the only Beta tester who really isn't that fussed about 1.3 - I may install it just to see if there are any stability fixes and maybe look at the mission system changes .. that's about it really.

It is not much to implement. The game already has a delay after a shield is hit, during which all regeneration is paused. This means the time after the last hit to the shields is recorded, and thus some form of ramping up of shield regeneration over time, is plausible with reasonable programming effort.

But imo it would be enough if regeneration scaled with the shield class class and/or rating. For maximum simplicity, let the recharge rate be shield class-1. Class 2 shields regeneration at 1 MJ/s, class 2 at 2 MJ/s etc. 6 MJ/s for a class 6 shields, i.e. 6 times as fast, would turn a 10 minute wait into a bit more than 1 minute, that would be reasonable.

Not strictly related to the time of release but rather than start another thread I thought I would post here.

My question to the Devs: Will there be a tutorial for Powerplay or will it be really obvious what we are required to do in regards to interacting/influence of the new power factions not to mention the other mechanics for example drones?

This is interesting.

I think 1 minute to 100% charge is far too fast.

Half of what it is now would be sufficient, you don't need a full charge in your shields to get back in the fight.
