Are you suppose to dismiss your ship while on the surface in a SRV?

When you are roaming around on the surface in an SRV are you suppose to dismiss your ship to keep it safe?

I am asking because I want to know if it is safe to leave your ship on the surface while in your SRV or to keep it safe are you suppose to dismiss it until you want to dock your SRV with your ship.

The ship will dismiss itself if you drive a certain distance away.

In my experience it should be safe from NPCs if there is no cargo on board, but yes, dismissing the ship is good practice now. It will automatically dismiss if you travel more than 2km away.

Pirates stop by and if you have any cargo will start attacking you. The police will show up and take care of them, but your ship will take hits unless you dismiss it.

The pirates are always clean, but will shoot you and gain a 200 credit bounty. When they blow up they still drop engineer modules you can pick up with your SRV.

Well depends, if you are roaming worlds then yes, theres no reason not to dismiss it, if you are raiding settlements tho, you can add some anti-missle launchers and turn your ship into a missle shield, very helpfull vs goliaths and guardians

I've had my empty ship attacked, no cargo. I always dismiss it if I'm going to be in the SRV for any length of time. It's safer.

Also, be careful when you get back into your ship, especially if you bring cargo with you and transfer it to the ship. That seems to attract nearby NPCs. I've had them just suddenly appear and scan me, and then attack.

Gotta be watchful these days.

I would post 2.1.

I was only way to Pleiades nebula stopped off to get some materials. I was just outside the.buble. Picked up materials and some canisters. Went for a nature's break came back to my Type-6 being shot up. Alas I lost the ship before I could get my act together.

Always dismiss now.

one of the saddest sights in the galaxy is landing your ship getting about 1/2 km away and seeing those ships you saw on your scanner doing a scanning run on your ship with loads of stuff
.
you then decide to dismiss it and you watch it take off while its under attack - and then blow up above you head as the pirates turn towards you.................
