WARNING:
I only heared rumors about that took place, my opinion is based on those rumors and most likely incomplete informations. If these informations are wrong i appologies and want to warn people to take this post with a grain of salt!
I am deeply disturbed by the fact that so many people think that whenever i get online in almost any game i am supposed to accept that i get mistreated by others even when i didnt do anything to provoke such behaviour. And now, i dont count simply being online towards this.
The Mobius incident shows that there is some fundamentaly flawed mechanic at work here.
I allready avoid Open because i am disgusted by the behaviour some people show their. Now i join a groupe that has as its almost exclusive rule that u do not engage in non consensual pvp and than someone breaks that rule i am again more or less told that I simply should deal with it because it is my fault that i did go online in the first place.
I am close to the point where i have to say that i had enough of this.
On the one side this forum has a pretty strict censorship preventing me from typing certain words, on the other side Frontier seems to be unwilling to enforce standard respectfull behaviour in these cases from its customers.
I can accept the fact that by joining open i agree to the rules of open which basicly means no rules as long as it only affects the game.
I can NOT accept the fact that i have to deal with the fact that certain individuals join a PvE Groupe with the singular intent to break the rules and grief other players. There are laws in place against cheating and scamming. In germany there is a principle called: In Treu und Glauben (Tranlation is something like: In good faith).
It means that when i interact with someone i can expect that he is truthfull to me and if i make a contract with him i can also expect that he does not actively try to cheat on me. (I also know that the reality does look a bit different and most of the time the outcome does not reflect this noble intention).
Still, people have been convicted because to this principle.
When these peoples joined the Mobius Group they knew what this group stands for, what the rules there in would ask of them and they deliberatly decided to decive the group leader in pretending to accept these rules to be let in.
To cut it short: They lied.
They lied with the intention to get an advantage above others, with the intention to harm others and take advantage of their trust. They obviously had no intention to play be the rules set for that group.
Tell me in which civilized country this behaviour would not lead to an arrest.
I am rapidly starting to loose my faith in Frontier and their decisions. I am allready in doubt that they will keep their promises regarding the game. But not acting (and by acting i mean punishing the offenders in the most sever form they can to make it clear they dont support this type of behaviour) lets me doubt the moral standards of their company and their developer team.
There is a good number of people that want to play in a cooperative fashion, the permanent discussion and the poll for a *official* PvE group pretty much prove this. I am also amoung those that whish to play in peace and quiet and mind my own buisness without the punishment of isolation (i.e. Solo).
I know that Frontier wont be able to prevent all these incident in a game where combat is an essential part of the game (this includes but is NOT LIMITED to PvP). But i expect them to act in a fashion that makes it clear that people are supposed to stick to the rules if they join a limited circle of players that agreed with one another to not engage in non consensual PvP. And if they do not stick to them they will be punished and (more importantly) forced to make reperations to those that where affected by them.
And my personal opinion regarding the extend of their punishmet:
If they act like terrorists they should be treated like ones. RL included.
I dont wish to get them killed (they would not be able to learn something if the experience would kill them). But i would have no problem if they get a bit burnt in the process.
I want to have fun when playing games. Being a victim to someone to boost their egos while they attack me and kill my assets that i worked for is no fun for me. As long as their is no respawn button and as long as I do not do anything that makes it clear that i am willing and aware of the risks of it (i.e. playing in Open in E-Ds case) no one should be allowed to interfere with my *fun* of playing the game.
If u dont belive me ask a psychologist, but being a victim of an attack even in an online game when u dont expect it can cause similar traumatas like any other similar action in RL. Maybee not to the same extreme extent, but that is different from person to person.
If u think i am exaggerating do as i said and ask a psychologist about it and that rethink of what u are doing if u are supporting this kind of behaviour.
