Arissa Lavigny-Duval Power Play Cycle 8

The division between people with different principles, whether it's "Empire first, last and forever," "free the slaves" or "protect our people from the Kumo Crew" actually seems like good roleplaying to me. In World War II we had people who thought we should be fighting the USSR not Germany, isolationists, and others who thought we should refuse to ally with Stalin at least. People from many other countries went to Spain to fight in the civil war before that, out of principle, and Franco probably made nationalist propaganda out of that. In the Cold war we had tension between people who thought "anyone on our side is good" and "we shouldn't support evil regimes simply because it's useful for our cause."

The game mechanics don't necessarily reflect this though.

We need names for our Blocs!

I'm of the opinion that ALD needs to focus on securing our resource base. We don't need these over-reaching adventures at the moment, when we have spiraling overhead and upkeep costs. We need to focus on Fortification, as well as creating the political conditions conducive to easy Fortification in future (we need Patronage and Feudalisms EVERYWHERE).

Strategically I can't figure out why we would bother going after Archon at all. His territory is so far away from us...

Where Hudson supporters on the Reddit talk about them working with ALD because "we both want more space to expand" this doesn't make sense. It might be near enough to Hudsonspace for them to try and inherit Kumo Crew assets if they successfully Collapse them, but how exactly does that help us? If we try to Expand into current Kumo Crew regions... I don't even want to think about the CC consequences.. And it would just give them (Hudson) opportunity to flank the Empire for their own Undermining attempts later on down the line.

wth? I haven't been keeping up with anything on Reddit.. This is madness. I would never want to fly together with the Federation, even against Pirates. I can only speak for myself as an Independent of course.

I have been saying now for two weeks.

Refocus on the Federation...

What is happening with the Empire?

This is madness.

We need Senator Kahina Loren to talk sense into people...

I agree.

Operation Davy Jones was maybe a fun thing.

But, I have been trying to tell them to stop it and refocus on the Federation.

Instead they are doubling down and asking the Feds for help?

Korovii is now undermined.

A lot of us spent yesterday making that happen.

In response to this Lavigny's Legion nonesense I am heading to Sol to hunt down Hudson ships...

Operation Davy Jones indeed.

We have, again, intruders in our HQ.
One or more of the same CMDR's! So CMDR Elegror and me needs imidiate assistance!
All ALD pledgers come to Kamadhenu, please!

One of the wing is now Zachary Hudson agent, the only name I recognize is Scottozz

How exactly do you go about doing this?

To change the ownership government of a System, we will need to cause a Civil War between the Controlling Faction and a Patronage/Feudalism Minor Faction in the same system.

Civil Wars I believe are triggered when two Minor Factions in a System have a similar Influence percentage.

So we would need to support our favoured Minor Faction by doing Bulletin Board Missions for them (which increase their Influence). We could also reduce the Influence of the Controlling Minor Faction by destroying their NPCs in the System. Once the Civil War is triggered we would go and fight in the Conflict Zones that would appear, and hand in Combat Bonds for our chosen Faction. Bonds handed in increase the Influence for that Faction, so we would just keep it up so the faction we want in control has the highest Influence by the end of the Civil War, which should cause the victor to take control of Stations in the system. Once the Main Starport in the system is under the control of our chosen faction, they then become the controlling Minor Faction of the entire system and we have successfully flipped the system government. Ta da!

For Systems without the appropriate Faction (no Patronage or Feudalism), we would have to find a system which is controlled by a Patronage/Feudalism, and try and encourage them to Expand into neighbouring systems by boosting their Influence by completing Missions for them.

Allrighty, any thoughts on what system/station/faction we should focus on for a start?

Right now one of our Control Systems, MARTIO is in Civil War. It's quite a close race so fighting for the Martio Imperial Society will really help towards winning it over to Patronage.

Martio is also only 1% Fortified at the moment so any garrison supplies you could bring would help as well.

I think I really need to stress at this point as well that effort flipping systems governments is much less important than our primary concern of Fortifying elsewhere right now.

Looks like ownership in Martio has changed over to the Imperial Society already, I suspect that means the Civil War is soon to end as the Patronage has won.

The System Map also now shows that Martio is a Patronage:

I agree, thats why I called ALD bullies and why I decided to not rejoin ALD, and why I'm fighting you. Ironic, but I was pretty much done with PP until this gave me motivation to kill some seal clubbers (and thats still exactly how I look at it)

I have no interest in interdicting harmless guys in sidewinders, and I have no interest in flying around in 2 wings clubbing which ever Kumo Crew player is unlucky enough to be in my instance.

At some point you might have to look at your self an decide if you actually are the good guy :)

You realise, of course, that it wasn't ALD that sent the invite to the feds, right? The call from ALD organisations was to free Imperial systems from the yoke of Delaine's Kumo Crew. It has expanded, because Power Play mechanics necessitate striking everywhere to release one control system. That is unfortunate for y'all.

Aye, it does look a bit like bullying, and we have more pressing matters at home, but if Imperial systems under Kumo Crew's influence are consistently kept at canceled fortification status, this action is worthwhile.

And, yes, the Velite Squadron's actions at HI-RXSs in Harma space sound fairly one-sided to me on paper, but watching the videos it feels more like testing and training pilots for later action. Which comes in handy, apparently in the early hours of this morning, wings of mercenaries were destroying Lavigny ships in Kamadhenu, and the Velites went in and lost 2 scouts to their 11 vessels.

Arissa represents the core values of Imperial society, upholding Imperial Slavery, Patronage & Feudal governments, and supporting Justice by giving a premium on Bounties. Unregulated Slavery really doesn't happen in ALD Control Systems because Black Markets are closed down by ALD. And if we happen to have Control Systems that do allow the trade of Unregulated Slaves, then the host government type is sub-optimal for us so we have a reason to overthrow them, and indirectly purge unregulated Slavery from our space (to make Fortification easier).

Pssst Dictatorships and Anarchies in our Control and Exploited space still sell otherwise goods on the open market. Which is a sound reason to form a rallying cry to flip those systems! If we have smugglers in our ranks, both Torval, Aisling, and Sirius space are near enough to make it still worth their while.

Aren't Senators Torval and Patreus near enough to move into that space? I'd much rather see them there, and Patreus certainly needs more space to expand (away from us).

It sounds like the Velites responded to the call. They don't check these forums. Either cross-post on the subreddit, or go into Lavigny's Legion TeamSpeak server to request assistance next time.
